Attach a surplus propeller and affix it to your helmet (with the proper size leads, of course!).

Stick the bearing in an oven at 200 deg c and heat up for 2-3 hours, put crank in freezer overnight.
Make up tool for driving race home on to crank.
Get some good welding gloves, spray crank with -50 deg c freeze can and put race on crank, drive home with made up tool. :)
Oh yes i forgot  everything has to be super clean and you only get one shot! :D

My point being that if you rely on an interference fit, the new inner race will not only become oversized, it will also go 'out of round' and be tapered/bulged.

Tried explaining this to Chris to the point I became very frustrated.......if he'd measured his new inner race before fitting, he would have found it was 31.897mm (1.2577'')......once fitted to the crank and measured again it will be a couple of thou bigger and as above, both tapered/bulged.
Also, if you study the H-D sizing chart the max size listed is an OD of 31.796mm (1.2518'') ie. even before fitting a brand new race is beyond this and the ideal size is 31.740 - 31.750 (1.2498 - 1.2500) so the new race will need precision grinding whilst on the crank to these sizes within a tolerance of 0.0002'' (count the zeros) for both roundness and taper, with a 16RMS surface finish.

Unless Von knows something I dont, this will also apply to your 'one size fits all' bearing.
Would you care to explain to the boys and girls why this tolerance is so important ?
