I forgot to mention a fellow guest at the Red Lion was Alan, a visitor from the Bomber Command Museum of Canada, Nanton, Alberta. We had a very interesting chat with him over breakfast yesterday. His museum in Canada has a reciprocal agreement with the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre (LAHC) where they exchange rare Avro Lancaster parts and technical information. Alan had brought some parts over with him and was making a documentary about 'Just Jane'. This Canadian museum is run on very similar lines to the LAHC and they even hold a 'Bikes and Bombers' event every July.

More information here

Fellow aeronautical nuts may be interested in the news that 'the last two Lancaster bombers still flying in the world will come together in a series of events this summer, in a meeting unlikely to happen ever again'.

'The Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (RAF BBMF) based at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire will welcome the arrival of a very special guest during August 2014 when the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum (CWHM) fly their prized Avro Lancaster to the UK for a month long visit'

More information here

The CWHM Lancaster's due in the UK on August 4th and we'll be following news about forthcoming displays with great interest. Alan said that there were plans to have an event at the LAHC incorporating 3 Lancaster bombers :P. As soon as we receive confirmation that this is going to take place we'll post details on this forum.
