Good choice there Shud, I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine. :app:

I've just got back from a brilliant trip to France and Germany on my uly, the Black Forest roads are Buell heaven. Did 2,000 miles in 9 days so nothing too strenuous, weather was fantastic, well recommended.

You going to Sammy Millers on the 23rd?

Hi nos
Sounds like a good trip. Worthy of listing on the ADV site :?:

Sammy Millers - thanks for the reminder, just put it in me calendar. If you fancy company on the trip up just let me know.

Hi Shud,
Happy to put up a listing of our trip, sorry to be a bit dumb but - ADV site :?:

ADV a mainly american site for those who clas themselves as adventurers - on bikes. Some pretty classic tails of daring-do. Yours would be more interesting than the mainly USA based trips.

Are you taking the piss, shudders? 200-odd miles a day around Europe is an adventure?

The place must be full of fecking Ewan wannabes riding to Wal-Mart if that qualifies.

A trip to tesco's can be adventure if you travel in a different way - e.g. direct - my point being that its not the mileage thats important.
I'd like to see the black forest pictures etc.
A lot of the trips documented on the ADV are pretty mammoth. Its a really massive site too - you get lost. Lots of septics on GS's and such like but a good deal about Ulys, if you search.

And my point is that a biking holiday round Europe is a biking holiday round Europe.

Sorry to break it to you, shudders, but owning a Uly does not make your rides more adventurous.

Its all relative, most people's trips are longer than my annual mileage

But every trip, however small, can still be an adventure ;)

If you do 150 miles a day, on just those switchback type roads, that needs a lot of input from a rider. It is easy to make a mistake if your not used to them.

I would go along with that Nav and why not. I even enjoy my ride to work and that is mostly traffic.

The ride is all but all the other stuff is part of it as well.

Adventure: Hazard, imperil (oneself); incur risk; dare to go or come, hazardous activity....

Life is an adventure if you make it, riding my uly simply adds to that adventure and if I can do it in places that are outstanding in beauty and awesome in their creation then I'm happy. Even if that adventure is the eight and a half miles I ride to work, then, like others, I'm still happy. Enjoy the adventure, wherever it takes you. :D

Don't dis other people's adventures. I remember a television programme hosted by Dave Allen, the comedian, where he went around the country chatting to people with odd hobbies. Part of the strap line for the programme was 'their mountains may be mole hills but they're climbing them in style'.

Not a bad mantra.
