My CR is telling me it's doing 38mpg on average, it does turn in to George Best when you give it the biggun though, saturday I did £55 in fuel for 460 miles although I used more fuel on the way there than I did on the way back (Deepsix set a rather strong pace!).

as for fiddling with the gears, don't bother, I demo'd an R for about 3 hours then ordered the CR with ace bars, it's more than fast enough and I don't find it windy at higher speeds either.

Make sure the front brakeline is routed correctly, I saw a CR on saturday on a 58 plate (same as mine) but with street bars that had the old clutch cover and brakeline in the "rub the tyre" position! Mine was reg'd in the middle of feb and had all the 09' stuff done to it. be aware of showroom bikes, you don't know how long they have been there!

JBR

Adam,

We discussed this yesterday.

Ah, I know that road well. It's on my commute to the southern shops. I'm not sure I'd want to try maximum speed testing down there. It's quite narrow with a pronounced crown on the road. For most of the way there are drainage ditched on both sides of the road. I think it's about a ten foot drop into the ditches. Just to add a little spice there are lots of mature trees to bounce off and at least one, if not two villages where plod will sit with speed cameras. :)

Cheers JBR. Do you have any pics of the new clutch cover and front brake routing, so I know what to look for? I pick it up next weds.

What is the latest map for these, or should there be ones available for mod'ed exhaust etc.?

I think the bike was manufactured in oct 2008 and reg'd in Feb 2009. Ex-demo from Silverstone HD.

That fuel consumption of yours seems fine for an unfaired bike with good power.
100 miles on the bolt 9 was using ~10 litres, which is around 45mpg.

Roll on next wednesday

The Rev B puck on the clutch cover is larger that the previous one and the recall brake line routing keeps the cable on the outside of the R/H fork. If you do a search, I've put photos of both of these on the site.
More importantly, it's essential that you establish the EXACT build date of your bike. If it was built between 11/4/08 - 11/9/08 then it will have a duff rear cam chain guide fitted which can shed plastic and clog your oilways - and ulitmately fuck your motor. There was a recall on this, not to replce the crap guide, oh no, that would be too expensive, the recall fitted a weaker tensioner system to protect the guide from getting chewed   P/N for this recall part is F0022.2AM.A
The '09 models have a metal fuel rail junction instead of the '08 plastic one, which leaks or can break.

It's an 09 model (whatever they mean by that is anyones guess). So hopefully its made after 11th October. I'll be checking the date of manufacture as a priority then!

Thanks for the info, Adam. That cam chain guide recall sounds awful - a weaker tensioner!!! WTF :oooops:

I don't think there is an '08 model CR, but yours could easily have been built during Apr-Sept since the Buell model year has fek all to do with any calender year ie. the 2010 models are already in production ;)

OK - got the bike now  . The clutch cover puck is the big one and the front brake cable is routed round the front of the fork. Phew.
I have seen the older revisions on an R in a showroom and can see the difference.

The date stamped on the bike is Sept '08. How do I check the day of the month that it was made, in order to see if it has the chocolate tensioner wheel?

Bike is amazing :worthy: - hope it stays that way :4roz:

Looking at the evotech tail-tidy. Anyone got one? Comments?

Cheers,
Newts

this web site gives pretty good comparisons.

Surprisingly, both the R & CR come out above average for reliability and maintenance costs in comparison to all bikes and just 'nakeds'. This is baed on owners feed back, so I believe.

I bought an rsend universal bracket for mine and "Made it fit" cost 20 quid and a tenner for a Motrax led reg-plate light. £50 cheaper and looks fine, there is a thread on here about it somewhere with pics too!

The front break line on my bike prior to the recall was routed in front of the fork, they done the recall, guess where it is now, if you put it in a book no one would belive you, but hey what the fuck over. A KTM 990 SM perhaps on the cards although the 1125R IS sweet.

If it is a break line, your brakes will not work.

You can put it right if you undo the master cyl and pass it through the forks. Takes 5 mins.
Which dealer was retarded enough to fuck it up :?:
