True about the BMW. Even their 7 series car had a safety recall a couple of years ago. Difference being though that BMW are BMW. All problems fixed, no questions.

My point though Is that owning the X1 is more like keeping a vintage bike. Needs looking after and fettling.

....but that's 'cos you've since amended the descriptions......and there was no warning on the primary chain tensioner....just a misleading description stating it was from a 2001.

Not everyone is as clued up as many on here and I couldn't have it on my conscience, selling one of those, and like others would have just tossed it.....in fact I gave away a brand new updated tensioner to someone on here when they needed one....

........and some machines aren't correctly assembled in the factory Husqvarna Nudas had two spacers on the swinging arm missing and Husky/KTM won't issue a recall because 'it doesn't affect the handling' (but would fail an MOT )
There are aftermarket kits to cure this, but they don't centre the wheel correctly. My lathe has been busy sorting my bike, and a few others - in fact, I've now run out of my stock of self lube nylon bar

I think you'll find that Buell were far faster at sorting recalls than BMW have ever been , BMW sell on the mistaken belief that you are buying German engineering quality when in effect you are buying Chinese quality at German prices. My 2008 GSA looks like it's part of yet another BMW recall due to substandard rear wheel flanges , you might say good on BMW for recalling a bike that old but it's only when you look into how long ago the first reports were of this problem that you realise that they only recall when they are forced into it. Some on the BMW forum have had to pay out of their own pockets having this item replaced over the years and some unlucky ones more than once.
2001 X1's never had any recalls and that is why Maz always says it's the best Buell to buy. Mine has done over 60000 miles and I expect lots more as well , not saying it's never had problems but it's taken me all over Europe.

tom I got my 2001 X1 when it was three months old. Didn't know much about them just always liked them,had many years trouble free. I only joined the forum in 2012 ' a couple of years ago I had some trouble which in the end was a minor sensor issue. However I took it to a " V twin specialist" about eight months and five visits later the bike was just as bad and I was out of pocket to the tune of 1600 quid. A visit to Maz had sorted it in a week and rectified not only the original problem but also undone the bodges the specialist had inflicted. My point being that there are buell[/list] owners who don't or never will do the forum thing. They may well buy your items, just because their not aware doesn't make it OK to sell them.

My primary chain tensioner broke on my 98M2, fortunately it did no damage and I was given an updated one for the price of postage, I have removed and replaced some of the parts you are selling but they are not going on eBay

Well you'll be happy to know that I removed them from eBay yesterday so you can rest safely knowing there's not a rogue tensioner loose in the world any more.

Fair one guys. I assumed that most people would be aware of the shortcoming of these parts but I suppose you can't assume that everyone would have done a bit of homework. Anyway they're in the bin now and heading to a landfill site.
