Thanks to Kev and Ronnie for sharing the week with us, it was great to have them along for the trip and apart from a blown headlight bulb on our Ulysses, both Buells and Jane’s new Guzzi V7 ran faultlessly.
I can confirm that the Netherlands is mostly flat; in fact the only hilly bits are bridges over roads, canals and rivers. Still, you don’t go to the Netherlands for Alpine style motorcycling adventures, you go for the beautiful countryside and away from the big cities, a calmer more relaxed lifestyle. Everyone was so helpful and pleasant. We could quite easily live in the area around Gorredijk where we rented the farmhouse. If you’re ever in the area or attending an event at Assen we can highly recommend Blier Herne as a place to stay, their web site:
here. Free fresh eggs everyday is an added bonus and they let you park your motorcycles in their barn.

Yesterday’s informal Buell meet at Café Olie B in Zoelen worked a treat. I chose the location from an internet search and it was just perfect, set in a picturesque village. There were 8 Buells in total and we met some Dutch friends we’d not seen for years. In fact many of the Dutch people hadn’t met each other before and they commented that it seemed strange that an Englishman had brought Buell enthusiasts together in their country. Kev put some pictures up on Facebook yesterday but for forum only users here’s a few of yesterday’s meet….
