Hi guys! I've just joined up to find out more about Buells. I love twins and have had Harley's, Victory's etc. I just sold my Victory Hammer S. Didn't want to have over £10,000 tied up in a bike anymore as I work too much and ride too little.

I'm currently looking for something new and I've been trying to decide what to buy next. I'm thinking Ducati Monster S4R, TL1000R, Aprilia Tuono and even a BMW R1100S boxer cup.

I then remembered about Buell. I've always liked the street fighter looks and those crazy looking brakes that run around the out side. You also get the sound of a HD too which I love.

Just got to do my research a bit. I'm 6ft and 110kg as well so they could be too small! Lol!

any tips or advice would be most welcome!

Welcome, from slightly West of you. You might find an XB a bit tight for space, but a tuber or an EBR should be absolutely fine.

An ully or tuber. Big Andy rides an M2 and he' s 6'7" and about 25 stone Though he does make it look small

At 6'2" 19st and also from Edinburgh, my M2 was just perfect! An X1 would've been OK, but the M2 was perfecter!

Hi I'm new here too. I spent ages looking a new ride and was going down the Harley route til I sat on a couple. I just happened to be at my mates place while he was MOT'ing a Ulysses and chucked leg over it so he could check the light and wheel alignments, at 6'2" 18 stone I decided it was pretty comfortable, to cut to the point I now own a Ulysses and CEL being on notwithstanding, love it.

I do like the sound of a HD lump though!

From the list of bikes you mentioned, the 1125 would do the job very well (2008 pref.). They are an excellent machine and easily have enough real world grunt. A Tuber will be the one your heart wants

Firstly what an excellent City to be based in. I lived there for 10 years (and no, I am not actually "from Scotland").

As it happens, before I got into Buells I was intending to by a Duc Monster, but the customer service I got in Alvins was so bad that I walked out and bought a Buell (XB) instead.

The XB-R and XB-S are "compact" but others should fit you fine.

There is a whole world of difference between a XB12 and an 1125. Best advice is to ride both and see which you prefer. You are probably best advised not to ride an old tuber, this will just complicate the whole thing. (I'm allowed to say this as I have both a tuber and an XB).

Seriously though, ride all the different styles and models that you can, consider whether you want just "fast transport" or something to make you smile (or both and, if so, in what proportions) and what is going to make you smile each time you open the garage door!

Thanks for the replies. I've got to ask, what's a Tuber? I'm not up on the lingo yet. I presume you mean the tube frame 1200? The last of the HD bikes? I won't be able to get out and do much test riding. I work a lot selling cars. The main thing is if I would fit on them.

It has to be a 12 or an 1125 right? I have seen XB12's. Lightnings and stuff. I saw an XB9s fire bolt on eBay too which looked nice.

I like the idea of a buell as you can still ride fairly upright and still have the HD sound for a fraction of the price of a softail!

seriously try a M2 if you can ........great all round bike - upright and the thunderous soundtrack you like ........ If you are going to tour a lot and want some luggage the XB12 Ulysses "Uly" is a great value option

If you want to see 'the Ultimate Tuber' - a 2001 X1 and have a seat on it, to try it out for size, feel free to head out to Armadale and I will get the hubby to wheel mine out of the garage for you. I would offer to ride it into your showroom, but I am not allowed to ride for a few weeks yet!

Aren't the last of the Buells the 1125 with the rotax motor before they closed the doors?
