Ok. So we're at the Bol D'Or and we've had some problems with the X1 after torrential rain - symptoms are as above. After about 350k it seemed like it'd sorted itself out.

Set of today and it stated again after around 30k. Made it to the hotel after some hairy moments with it cutting out mid corner and when it feels like it. A long week of about 300 miles a day so would like to get it sorted rather than getting ot recovered to Maz and having to abandon the trip.

Any ideas that can be done simply?

EBR is running beautifully in case you're interested :D

Maybe the ets? Is there a fix other than relacing it?

Ta.

Why ETS? It sounds like ignition if it is in the pouring rain. WD40 on the coil and plugs?

:yup:
WD40 has the same name in France as the UK. You can even find it in the hypermarkets automotive isle. I bet it would be the first thing a mechanic would do. Have you both filled up with the same fuel and is it possible that water has gotten in?

Sounds like waters got in or on somewhere it shouldn't and if it’s misfired for a long time, might need a new set of spark plug

If it starts and runs fine then after a while starts missing and dies it sounds similar the the problems I had. Temp sensor.

First aid package sent by Pash should be waiting for us in Turin. Replacement plugs, TPS, spanners, Allan keys plus Palm with ECM spy :yup:

Hopefully Garry and Ray will be able to sort it :D

Looks like we have a fix. ECM spy didn't show any TPS fault but did show O2 sensor fault - disconnected it and changed plugs. Now seems to run fine.

Gonna give it another go when we leave on Thursday and see how it goes.

Thanks for all the offers of help from European buellers and to Maz on the phone. Garry and Ray did the work whilst I watched and offered helpful advice :rotfl:

Huge thanks to Pash who sent all the kit that enabled the fix :worthy: Diamond geezer.
