I finished fixing my exhaust cable this evening. Normal mountain bike brake cable is too thick, but gear cable works OK. When I was disconnecting the old cable I noticed the cam on the top of the exhaust valve actuator was in a strange position (too far round), so I opened it up to check the gears. One of the gears appears to have a piece of plastic broken off , although I couldn't find the broken bit (the unit is the older one S0138.1AA). So does any one have a spare actuator they want to sell me?

I'm starting to think that buying an after market silencer might be a cheaper option if I can't get a good second hand actuator? But I don't want anything too loud or that affects the rideability of the bike.

thanks

Bet loads of people have them gathering dust, however check this out:

Or you may be able to match the gear up with someone like HPC:

Thanks Pash, yes it is the big gear attached to the cable shaft has distorted and it looks like a piece of it has broken off. I was aware that the Ford part is the same, but was trying to work out how to swap the Buell cam / cable attachment over? I'm still considering an aftermarket silencer, after watching a few videos on aftermarket exhausts, I like the look of the APH one:

http://www.aph-performance-engineering.com/buell_1125_exhaust_ans_buell_xb_exhaust.html

It doesn't seem too loud and looks well built, it also means I can do away with the whole exhaust valve setup too removing any repeat of the cable / actuator issues I've had recently.

Hmm, decisions..... I think I'm still going to try to get a replacement actuator, even if it is for the short term, so if anyone has one they want to sell please let me know.

Looks like a common issue:

The place mine has broken / distorted is the same place as the photos on these forums:

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142838/584634.html?1280749677

http://www.buellxb.com/forum/showthread.php?24217-Check-Engine-Light-Code-21-exhaust-valve-servo

Basically the black part on the shaft has jumped past the tag on the gear that is supposed to retain it.
