Wait for other people to respond too, but you want to budget for dyno time.

I have to say, I'm very tempted to Go for a 1250 kit with XB heads. Hammer Performance seem quite reasonable on the price of the heads, considering what people are asking for second hand ones, and they could machine the squish for me for 40 bucks a piece. I could have some CNC porting done at the same time :)
As Dave H says, there looks to me some machining of the cases involved in the XB crank conversion.
It would be nice if I could get it done in UK, as the Spanish theft duty is a crippler.
If it's a no go with the crank, then some nice rods and a balance it will be.

If you email Aaron at Hammer, I'm certain he will go through all options and price them for you. I haven't used Hammer for anything but I did deal with Aaron when he was NRHS and found he was a decent bloke. I don't know if anyone in the UK has already fitted a 08 XB crank into X1 cases. I would not want to be the first one anyone did.

Thanks 03 :yup: I'm thinking it could be a real hassle sending my bottom end to the States, and getting hammered (do you see what I did there? :) ) by Spanish customs for IVA and import duty to get it sent back to me.
But I guess it's worth an e-mail.

Just need to fly to the US with the cases in your hand luggage.

You could to send a email to Hammer and explaine what you like ,but don't want to ship the cases back and forth.
So ask for the recipe!

Not a bad idea that. I do know a very good machine shop here that I would trust with my cases.

I would give :maz: a call or drop in to see him, he will show you the difference between the tuber and XB cranks...

I'd love to pop in to see him. But, time is going to be short soon. I'm in UK in a few days time, but "darn saarf", in for a course, then straight out again! Mebee at the end of the Yachtie season.

Hi
I have used stock shotpened rods that have been xrayed to 9.000rpm in ballanced crank.
Carrillo rods in stock flywheels take 200bhp plus on gas.
If its for street then a good refresh inc a good crank job with high end replacment parts is all you need imo.
:yup:
