This is my first post on here so bear with me.

I have an 06 Ulysess on which my drive belt snapped the other day. Not Happy, My son is even less happy as I got him to give me a hand pushing it home, 8 miles. He is still not talking to me. Anyway I have managed to get a new belt from Bowker Harley and ' with the metric'impearial tools I have get the covers and swing arm section out of the way but I have no tool that will fit in the back wheel axle.

Now my questions :- How do get the axle out, there was no adapter in my tool kit that came with the bike ( second hand ). Will I need to buy a tool ?

I presume that there is some sort of cam on the back wheel to tension the belt ( I have no manual ) I am used to chains. Where can I get a Manual.

What torque setting on the back wheel ?

You should slacken the axle BEFORE removing the section from the swingarm normally but on this occasion because there is no belt on it doesn't matter , just remember to fit the section before you tighten the axle after fitting the belt.
The axle isn't a cam, you slacken it off 15 turns which allows the bearings to slide down the taper as the axle screws out, if there is no sign of copper grease on the axle it would be wise to remove it and apply some. IF the axle is seized (remember to undo the clamp bolt under the swingarm first) be careful it doesn't try to spread the swingarm . If it is it is best to strap the swingarm together with a ratchet strap before getting brutal with it.
DO NOT exceed the recommended torque setting for the axle when you refit it , if you do you will crush the wheel spacer and destroy your bearings.

Aka... Motorcycle spindle tool. ..

Check your local Halfords or motorcycle shop for spindle tool, there are a few youtube vids on rear wheel removal, if you have a cup type paddock stand it can be pretty straight forward, nothing really difficult, a few bolts on the front cover, the rear wheel out, and the belt guide..

Only joking, theres plenty of help on here if you get stuck.

You do not have to remove the rear wheel , just slacken the spindle 15 turns, it is possible to change the belt at the side of the road with the bike on it's sidestand
