Kev, hope it works out that you can make it.

And I promise not to go to in or near Amsterdam again, that was an experience I'm not keen to repeat ...... Other than a visit to our Guzzi buddies at Teo Lamers in Nijmegen the day trips will be confined to the northern countryside regions of both Germany and the Netherlands.

WHAT!!!! Guess who is back in Europe? That's right me buckos, I'll will be arriving Stuttgart on February 24th and my Stuff (including my bike) should arrive in early April. I would love to have a few, or many beers with my UKBEG Brothers and Sisters.

I do believe I can make this Germany weekend that you speak of. I'm sorry to say I am without a Buell at the moment, my ride is a Triumph Bonneville ( hot rodded and modified of course) , I hope a British bike will be welcome in your American Motorcycle club.

Glad to be back and hope to see you all soon.

Joey T

Hi Joey – what a surprise and great news that you’re coming back over to Europe. It’ll be good to meet up again, whatever you’re riding.

How time flies, the last time we met was June 2010 during the UKBEG weekend in the Ardennes: here

You have already seen this but just in case you haven’t, as part of the UKBEG Netherlands & Germany week we have the informal Anglo-Dutch-German Buell meet in Heino on Sunday 22nd May, details: here

The DCN web site now shows some interesting info about the Brittens at DCR 2016: here

For those of us that can’t speak/read Dutch here’s a (rough) translation:

Britten's back at Assen after 20 years:

For years dreamed to see the legendary Britten in action again and hear? Now is your chance. During the 37th International Ducati Club Races on May 29, 2016 will include at least 2 of the 10 legendary Britten's presence at the TT Circuit Assen.

To make this possible, we do need your help. You will understand that the transfer of these engines from New Zealand requires the necessary financial resources. By donating a contribution to account number NL30 ABNA 0622 46 38 61, stating your name and "Donation Britten". can you help to get Britten to the Netherlands.

What you get in return:
First of all the excitement of the moment than goose bumps and shivers down your spine from the sound of the legendary Britten. In addition, mention your name on the special "British thank you page" from the program of the Ducati Club Races. Donations can from € 5.00.

Britten (Britten Motorcycle Company Ltd, Christchurch, New Zealand) is a historic motorcycle brand. The New Zealand engineer John Britten debuted in Daytona Beach in 1989 with a revolutionary twin cylinder 1000cc racer.

The engine was fitted with two Ford-Cosworth-cylinders made of a Formula 1 car, whereby the engine block was an important bearing portion of the frame. The Britten (later published another one in 1000 and a 1100 cc version) were always fitted with highly advanced technology and could compete with engines of large factories.

John Britten had in recent years as a technical consultant and designer involved in the reintroduction of the Indian brand, but made his death on September 5, 1995 to these plans as yet to an end. The Britten motorcycles were far from good participates in races. In 1999, still Lex van Dijk won with great ease the Sound of Thunder race at Daytona. There are built ten Britten motorcycles, three of which are in New Zealand, one in Italy, one in the Netherlands and five in the United States.

Next week we'll receive some high resolution A2 posters for DCR 2016. After we've put them up in various Italian motorcycle dealers there should be 1 or 2 spare. If you'd like a poster drop us a PM and we'll send you one FOC. The spare DCR 2015 posters went quickly so get your name down ASAP.

Latest event update from our buddies in the Ducati Club Netherland...

We’ve managed to book our places for the Britten motorcycle event on Thursday evening, 26th May. Only 29 sleeps until we sail from Hull  ....

Ducati TT/F1 Symposium.

Ducati’s most iconic race bike returns to Assen and how! This first belt driven Ducati in the (since then) typical trellis frame ruled the race world in the early ‘80s when in 1981 the Ducati TT2 saw the light. This Ducati TT, and its street version Ducati F1, is the ‘great-grandfather’ of all Ducati’s built in the following 30 years. It has many enthusiasts’ still lovingly caring, racing and tuning it. In the USA, already 8 successful “Ducati TT & F1 symposium” meetings were organized. This year the 9th symposium will be part of the 37th Club Race and together with the Ducati Club Netherlands we organize the first ever TT & F1 race!

Around 50 bikes will celebrate on the track the successes of the TT back in the day in the TT1, TT2, and World Endurance and Bott races. Successes like Tony Rutter’s 4 World Championships in TT2 (1981,82,83 and 84), podium finishes in 1984’s Endurance Championship, 3 consecutive wins at the Montjuic 24 hours (1984, 85 and 86) and many race successes like Marco Luchinelli’s 1986 Daytona Bott win and national Bott, Superbike and TT2 Championships.

The Symposium is an International gathering for all that share their passion for the Ducati TT & F1. In the paddock we have a “TT & F1 Piazza” where we are exhibiting 35 years’ evolution of a bike that is alive & kicking on circuits. With original restored race and street bikes, specials and machines that are successful today in Open Endurance and Superbike classes we will exhibit around 80 machines but also reunite riders and mechanics that wrote history with these machines.

On the track and in the exhibition you will see many special machines including;
Michael Rutter’s 2015 Ducati TT, a replica of his father’s bike on which Michael broke the 2 valve lap record during last year’s Isle of Man Classic TT.
The 1986 Italian Superbike winning Moretti Ducati (ex Leandrini)
All TT1 Homologation models (Montjuic, Laguna Seca and Santa Monica)
The ex-Walter Villa 1984 TT1
An original 1982 TT2
The bike where it all started with, the 1979 Pantah 500
And a beautiful collection of original restored machines, replicas and specials based on the TT.

Britten Motorcycles.

Would you like to know all the ins and outs of the Britten.
Sign up now for one of the two readings which are entirely dedicated to the Britten.
On Thursday 26th and Friday, 27th of May two readings on the Brittens will be held.
During these talks, the owners and riders of this legendary bikes will tell you everything there is to know about the Britten. Construction, development and race history will be discussed. Of course, it is also possible to ask questions in order to find out more about the Brittens.
The readings wiil take place in the TT Institute near TT Circuit Assen.
Start of the reading is at 20:00 hr. Duration about 2 hours.
Price for this exclusive readings is € 15, - including coffee.
Applications can be send by mail to bestuurslid.techniek@ducaticlub.nl
Please note that full = full. There is room for 35 participants per reading.

See you in Assen during the 37th Ducati Club Races on 27, 28 and 29 May 2016!
