114.8 decibels on 1000rpm. That was with it next to the exhaust. What, if any is the normal distance sound is measured from the pipe for track days?

You've no chance anywhere with a noise restriction with that exhaust. I hesitate to call it a muffler.

They hold it next to the exhaust, they wouldn't even test that though.

Managed to get mine down to 95 db with a db killer, just to get it through inspection over here. Unfortunately it didn't just kill the Dbs, it killed the top end as well, so I wouldn't recommend it for a track day lOl

about half way down says 45 deg from exhaust at 0.5 meters away and at x rpm
in the old days it was based on a multiple of engine stroke , you could always cheat if it was close and pull the choke on a bit to get a few db less lOl

:yt: ..and some testers could be 'leant on' (actually I mean shoulder-barged) to make it a metre at 90 deg lOl
...oh and we lied about maximum revs too (only rebuilt it yesterday, mate, can't take it above 2,500) lOl

According to MCN. WSB have just upped the DB limit to 115. You could always ask if you could join in :run: . You'd have to show no mercy with the throttle though. And it might need a service before long :yup:

Ha that made me laugh! I'm not alone in having (enjoying) a loud exhaust. I will give it a good rev when the neighbours are out and reveal the Db count.
As with any Buell It's well up to the task of podium finishes in WSB!
It's always fun to see the bus's windows vibrate in time with the exhaust at the lights.
I've sometimes been driving my car when an Aprillia or similar roars past and you can feel the vibrations through your feet.
I have no idea what a Buell will do with the exhaust pointing at the side of the car, although I blasted past a Boxster at high rpm, and I'm sure I saw him picking up his teeth off the dash and popping them back in!
Hey Dave - can I have one of those gearbox nipple mods please?
Regards,
Jez

No problem. I'll call to maz's this weekend and pick one up. Pm me your postal address and I'll get one on the way. On the subject of exhausts. I go through a single lane arched tunnel on the way to and from work with a pathway just on one side. The amount of victims I've seen duck like a bomb's gone off when I've given it a handful still makes me chuckle. :run: . I'll grow up one day.......just not yet :hehe:

How times change. I used to fit a White Bros exhaust to replace the race kit on my X1 so that I would be ok for noise testing. The guys at Brands would always ask me to remove the end cap because they wanted to hear it properly.

Recorded 125.9 Db when blipping the throttle. Went for a run out to Fridaythorpe in the Yourkshire Wolds. My first proper ride since I bought it.
Must get some ear plugs. :old:
