Did you have to provide any proof to persuade DVLA to accept that 'X1' was a distinct model (seeing as it hadn't been type approved)?
If not, then what's to stop an X1 (or M2) owner re-registering theirs as an S1... or an X2.. Shelby... Vantage... or any other name that they fancy? ... :?:

I had to take the bike to the DVLA HQ in Manchester (Chester House) along with sales brochures and original US invoice.

All apart from 78, apparently.

Don't understand that. I thought they were registered as S1's to avoid reapplying for european type approval. So it doesn't make sense that there should be any X1's registered at all.

When you first get your registration document it asks if all the details are correct , I sent mine back and had it changed to say X1
