Any idea what the difference is between 12A and 12X plugs?

Yes, the X has a rib on the insulator, supposedly to resist fouling. Foxy Loxy will know the story, but I heard they were introduced to allow dealers to start bikes and shut them down before letting them get warm without the risk of the bike not starting next time they tried...
