In that case, if you wanna LC twin, I'd go test ride a SuperDuke.....far superior to Buells offering IMO :o

Thare's a nice KTM 950SM in the for sale section at the moment. I'd buy it if I had the spare dosh.

Hi GB
I spoke to Nick College from Buell UK last month and he says the difference between the 08 and 09 is immense. They may look the same but don't buy an 08 because they have too many faults
I re-tested a CR at the weekend and boy its certainly a good bike with a great motor, it will be a fantastic track weapon with a bit of fettling.

That's what you meant to say, right Woz?! ;)

Oh for the days when the bikes were tested by factory employees, not the poor sods who buy them......

Don't worry, Spen. Adam happily tests new Buells for us. 8-)

I've seen loads of 09 tagged 1125r's in showrooms with the dodgy front brake cable routing and the little clutch puck that I'm confused? These must be 08 bikes? They had the purpley frame, where I thought the 09 would be black, like the CR?

Buyer beware maybe...

The only out standing issue is whether the latest clutch slave unit is fitted yet in later '09 models, or maybe they're just fitted to the 2010 models? Unless this new mechanism is fitted the clutch will eventually leak.
There's quite a few subtle differences between the '08 and the '09, clutch cover, improved instrument cluster (less misting up), fork internals, injectors, fuel tank insulation, throttle bodies etc, etc
Don't think the rear shock has been improved but it looses it's damping reasonably quickly if used hard. Needs an AST ;)

One other thing I forgot to mention is the difficulty of checking the correct oil level. Apart from Buell completely cocking up their first attempt at making a dipstick  :tosser: it's a bloody nightmare checking you've got the correct oil level on the '08 and '09 bikes, I actually made a frame that holds the bike by the front wheel and it's got two spirit levels fixed to it to make sure the bike is level in both planes. It really is that critical (most Rotax motors seem prone to this and will trap large quantities of oil in their internal cavities when hot)
The 2010 bikes apparently have a sight glass which will make life more tolerable for folk like me who like to have their machinery 'right' ;)

Another set up for a "make your own punch line" moment there.

If you're gonna try a Duke don't forget the Hypermotard, different and brilliant fun to ride. The build quality also seems good - only downside I've found so far is tank range, 90 miles to warning light. Still love the XB mind.....

I am quite happy with my 09 1125R and reluctantly sold the Firebolt.
Don't think the handling on the standard 1125R is as good as the standard Firebolt and agree an aftermarket rear shock would be a good idea soon.
Standard exhaust blows crap all over the back end - If you buy an 1125R allow for an aftermarket can to prevent this if nothing else.
There were quite a few problems with earlier 1125R and I am keeping an eye on the clutch slave, best you search this forum or Bad Weather Bikers 1125R forum for the issues
