Yesterday’s event was very well attended. It was an exceptional day and a fitting tribute to the four veterans present and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice serving in Bomber Command during WW2.
With the recent arrival of Mosquito HJ711, LAHC is fast becoming the premier location in the UK dedicated to Bomber Command. The good news for Ems Day 2018 on Monday 28th May is that HJ711 will be up and running for next year’s display season. The engineering team at LAHC have already made great progress reassembling the aircraft since it was transferred from the Yorkshire Air Museum, Elvington. The two Merlin engines will be refurbished over the winter period. Story here:

Squadron Leader George "Johnny" Johnson, who was born in 1921 in the small village of Hameringham, just to the south east of Horncastle, served as a Lancaster bomb aimer, with 97 and 617 squadrons and he is the last remaining British Dambuster.
Warrant Officer Harry Parkins was a Lancaster engineer serving with 630 and 576 squadrons, Harry survived a mid-air collision over the airfield at East Kirkby, as well as taking part in several notable operations, such as the raid on Hitler's Alpine home at Berchtesgarden.
Flight Lieutenant "Rusty" Waughman served as a Lancaster pilot with 101 "Special Duties" Squadron, he survived the ill-fated Nuremberg raid on March 30th, 1944, as well as a mid-air collision.
Sergeant James Flowers served as a Lancaster rear gunner with 50 and 44 squadrons, he experienced many eventful operations, after being almost being hit by falling bombs from above, as well as surviving attacks by Me 109s, Ju 88s, FW 190s and Me 262s.
Johnny Johnson signed our copy of his autobiography and all four of them signed an 890mm x 510mm poster for us.
