Saturday 9th December will be our last visit this year to the LAHC before their Christmas and New Year shutdown. We're going to see the restoration work that's being done to their Avro Lancaster and Mosquito over the winter period.

Details here: http://www.lincsaviation.co.uk/news/lat ... n-2017.htm

We've rearranged this visit for Saturday 9th December. LAHC are offering 'official tours' of their winter restoration work and Jane :4roz: has bought us a couple of tickets for the 11.00am tour on the 9th.

Kev, Jane surprised me with the tickets this morning, bless her, hence the different date. Shame they aren't doing these tours tomorrow, it would have worked out beautifully.

Not a very two-wheel friendly forecast for this coming weekend. We'll take a view early tomorrow morning but at the moment I think we'll be using the car, aiming to arrive at LAHC around 10.15 to 10.30am.

Excellent visit to LAHC yesterday. The tour lasted 1 hour and was absolutely fascinating. Every aspect of this and last winters restoration work was covered with detailed descriptions of how the Lancaster was designed and constructed. NX611 was made by Austin Motors, Longbridge in April 1945 and is one of the few surviving from the 7,377 made during WW2.

The restoration work is part of a rolling 10 year programme to restore this aircraft to airworthiness. A lot of major work was carried out last winter and they're now working their way around smaller sections to inspect and repair/replace various parts. Given current funding restraints it will be still be a few years before it flies again. The total cost will be in the region of £3 million. LAHC are spending £125,000 on it this winter.

Glad you had a great time, it's a race now as to who finishes their project first; LAHC or Mick Russell :D
