Hi all
Have any of you guy seen this on an 1125cr, Bike would start then saw smoke form under the rear set hump. Is it a bodge or a factory fix, also the battery is fitted with the terminal facing the rear light, this is how it was when I brought it. To me it looks like the battery should be facing down.
Cheers
Paul

Blimey....where's the other end of that thin pink lead connected?...if its to the battery positive sounds like it could be a homemade extension lead to try and make battery fitment easier.....Regarding the battery, it should be laying down, terminals facing rear of course and on the top with the positive on the left side. Are you sure you have the correct battery fitted.....most batteries have the pos and neg the other way round to Buells so it may be someone has ,ahem, fitted an incorrect battery and this is the "fix".
Or perhaps they were nervous fitting the positive as it is close to the subframe and this was a way of not using the original large connector.
I very much doubt a dealer would use those chocolate box connectors and leave a positive lead uninsulated........would they :o ?

The pink wire goes to the battery positive, Its the right battery for the bike, The positive wire looks a bit short from the starter solenoid.

Hi there,

Mines an 1125r & the terminals are like the picture. There should be a plastic cover to protect the terminal as it runs under the frame mine was missing. This is a pic of mine when I got it, gaffa tape & a piece of rubber to stop it shorting.

sorry forgot the other pic that shows both the terminals. Hope you can make it out as I've cropped it to make the file smaller. There's actually a sticker on mine warning about this during servicing you can just make it out.

Looking at the fourth picture you posted, the routing of the positive looks incorrect......junk the little pink lead , cut the cable tie and route the main bike positive inside the subframe under the rail and then onto the terminal. You'll need some sort of protection for the terminal , gaffa tape, home made plastic shield if the original is missing.....

Hi there,
I used a length of petrol pipe split down the middle & tie wrapped onto the lead where it goes through the frame. Does the job, it's an easy fix & works a treat until like me you find the correct plastic shield.
I'll post a pic tomorrow.
Paul.

insulation tape is ok , but a bit of heat shrink tubing would be better long term :yup:
cheap to buy & a hair dryer will work to shrink it , or a lighter if your carefull
pvc tape glue isn't the best TBH long term.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that those electrics look like an abomination?

Seems to be a spare wire there looking for a terminal 😁. Just behind the positive terminal going towards the back of the bike..... ?
And +1 to the heat shrink suggestion....
