C'mon ride up to Derbyshire & we'll go see a wall ha ha.

I should have put a link to the Dambusters music or cut & pasted a Lancaster into it or something to give people a clue.

This looks a bit more impressive, but only ever seen it like this twice in 30 years.

The ' wall ' is Derwent dam retaining wall where 617 squadron did the practice runs with the bouncing bomb before hitting the ruhr valley dams. The top photo looks like Hollins cross ridge, overlooking mam tor on one side and the edale valley behind the photographer. I like to ride my mountain bike up to there. It's a very involving ride. ( Read hard for involving ).

It would be great to see you there.
Two birds with one stone & a piss up to boot.
Hope you can make it.
All the best Paul.

Yeah, I was so proud of him, I really pushed him that day as I knew climbing Mam Tor was his Swansong & he wasn't ever gonna manage to do anything like it again.
He's in the final stages of Alzheimer's now with all that goes with that but still remembers me on the days I visit him, which is really lovely. Bless him.

Hi pepper2,

It looks like it will be the 7th to be honest & if weather is crappy then the 14th as there doesn't seem to be anything else on those dates yet. Looks like most are ok with me just planning the route & I guarantee it will be a very scenic ride.

The route is 29 miles from Matlock Bath to Edale & 28 on the way back to Matlock Bath, taking in a lot of the sights that anyone coming to Derbyshire would go & see, although we'll mostly just ride through unless anyone really wants to stop before the actual planned Cafe' stop/s.

I'll post a route map on this thread before the run date ok. Look forward to seeing you there.

All the best Paul.
