hi guys,

yesterday i took my Uly on another run which saw me heading for loomies Cafe on the A32 than further to Portsmouth and than via the great B2146 back home...all in all 140mls...

this now means that since i bought my Uly in July of a fellow forum member i have completed 2000mls. The bike hasn't missed a beat and we are starting to bond.

the 10k service was done in between too and the Uly feels as fresh as on its first day...

I get about 50-55mpg and i wearing the tyres to the edge!!! :D

the fun this Buell is given me also ment that my 3 other BMW's have been on the garage - lonely...but i cant help it!

Anyway, i sure i will get another 2k miles in before the year is over...

Lars

Wait. A positive thread on UKBEG?! :D

Yep, loving my Uly too - is it the ultimate all-rounder? Just shy of 3000 miles since I got it at the end of April. Very few other bikers I know seem to get it, which is something I secretly enjoy. A real marmite bike, it seems. Me, I can't get enough of the thing.

The only issue I've had has been helmet noise/buffeting from the tall screen (mine's an XT). I've done some unsuccessful experiments with screen options over the summer and think I'll be settling on the lower screen off the X.

I do want to do something about the sound the bike makes as it does sound pretty strangled in its stock form. Nothing too chavvy, I just want it to sound like a V-Twin should. That's on the plan for 2010, along with a trip down through Europe. All good. 8-)

I tried a tall screen and went back to the STD one. I get buffeting with my HJC lid but none with my Arai.

I have an old XB12X STD screen you can have for free, but very scratched, to test with. All I would want is the post costs.

Mine is a 06 Uly bought at 11 months old with 1700 on it. Done 10k on it now and the only thing it has needed is rear wheel bearings at 5k and got them done free. The belt went at 7500 but I think that was down to a none savy tyre fitter 300 miles after the tyre was changed. The belt was done free as good will as were the rear bearings so they cost nowt. A new OEM battery was fitted 12 months ago as well and needs to be a gel type so costs a bit more than normal.

I do not have any problems with mounts or other bearings at the moment. In fact I went for a ride over my fav bends today and it still handles as well as the day I bought it and have very little vibs on the bike. The tyres are Mitch 2CTs with 4500 on them with perfect profile and about 2k left on them. Great grip, temp stable, near as good in the wet as dry and I am right on the edge of the tyre now. I sometimes wonder at how far I can go before I drop it

The bike handles like a demon and better than anything I have ever had. Feedback from the brakes (right pads), motor (a bit of tweaking is needed), frame and suspension/wheels/tyres (right setup) is a joy to behold.

The bikes finish. I just cleaned it after a year and it came up like near new. The only marks on it are down to me. The front isolator paint is peeling off and there is some bubbling under the paint here and there. The fastners are fine, but I WD40 them every year, and everything else looks near new.

I change the engine oil and filter every 2500 and I have made some mods. Better front and rear pads, FST, up-grade of fork oil, the right tyres and the breather mod must be done IMO. A better can, lamps, mirrors and the like go a long way to make it a much better bike as well.

Big under seat space, very comfy pillion/rider seat, the triple thingy system, you can ride over speed humps at 30 like they are not there, great mpg, no one nicks them, cheap insurance for most, blah, blah works for me.

A brill bike and it will become a classic IMO. Having said that they are very well liked now and looks to have been a good seller for Buell.

I've had an 08 now for about 1000 miles. Have a fuelling problen (pops a lot on overrun) but not a big deal and should be solved when I can get pash or tubbs to check it over.

It has a stage 1 up grade & 07 headers and has had the 2010 reflash of the ECM which changed the fan characteristics a lot. The fan now is on a lot at speeds of 30mph + but off when on tick over. The opposite to before.

A great fun bike. I have a S1 as well and they are both great fun. The S1 makes me into a buelligan, whereas the Uly makes me more likely to explore new road - and travel further. Different animals.

For those new to Muells - badweb site 'big, bad & dirty' thread is a useful place and so is the ADVsite. The ADV link is the Uly farkles thread - some good ideas there.

I'm looking for a good tail tidy and sliders if anyone knows of some good'uns for Uly.

Glad to see that there are others enjoying the ULY too....
regarding the screen...my Uly has got the palmer brackets and Zero Gravity screen...this does not eliminate air flow completely, but the air i get is "clean" and constant so no buffeting at all...

my Uly has got a few mods too...

FS Belt tensioner, Airbox mod by Maz, Remus can, right scoop, handlebar externeder by Palmer and wind deflectors, HID etc...

i cant think of anything else i would change to the bike...i am HAPPY!

Bought my 08 uly new last October. Got a great deal from Sycamore HD. Just done over 10000 miles including 1750 in France, 2 up, over 8 days this summer. Been biking since I was 17 and it has taken me over 30 years to find my perfect bike. Regularly get 50 to the gallon and the handling is brill. Luggage takes everything me and misses need for a holiday or weekend rally. Would recommend to anyone. Not much I would change apart from fitting Remus exhaust and powerizer when I can afford them.

Got my Uly in July 08 and have done just under 10K miles in that time. I Love it and Mrs T loves the pillion comfort.

Fitted tall screen, FS Tensioner and Remus Silencer plus done breather mod. Fitted new tyres, Conti Motions, back in June and can't believe the bike handles even better. :)
