Hi all, not a new member but this is my first post cause in fairness my 09 Uly XT has never given me an ounce of bother . Anyway I recently fitted an APH exhaust which looks well made and sounds good but it seems I acquired a .50 cal tail gunner in the process when shutting off the throttle. I'm more use to spannering vintage Harley's than dealing with electronic techy stuff so looking for some help/guidence. I did manage to buy a ECM dongle from Twin Motorcycles, download ECMdroid and connect them (old dog new tricks ) and following instructions from this site confirmed there were no fault codes logged and the AFV reading for the rear cylinder is 85.5 with no reading for the front. I did contact Buelltooth about getting a fuel map but they were less that enthusiastic cause I hadn't bought the dongle for them. The bike is completely stock except for the end can and I haven't changed any setting, TPS or AFV, yet. Any help appreciated.

You need to speak to Dr Pashley, he'll tell you exactly what your problem is likely to be. HTH.

With that AFV reading, I would suspect you've sat on your ECM and damaged the gray connector !?

Hi Maz thanks for response. I just checked and I looks like the seat was pressing on the grey connector block as you suggested. There is light scuff marks on the connecter block but more obvious marks on the seat base. I disconnected the block and checked the wires and pins and all look undamaged and no cracks on the grey plug on ECM body. After befitting the connector I rechecked the AFV reading which is now 90%.

Movement of the gray connector damages the PCB, so you won't see anything externally.
Most folk relocate the ECM to either on top of the battery or between the battery and fusebox.

So is replacement of the ECM unit the only solution now?

try as Maz said , you might be lucky with repositioning as
not having your weight pressing down on it , like a painful tooth that you avoid chewing with

also a TPS and AFV reset ,then a good steady long ride for the ECU to check things and adjust itself , if needed , you did say its only done it after changing exhaust

Not necessarily and you'd be very lucky to find a good replacement ECM anyway !
A low AFV is usually accompanied by a shit load of TC's after PCB damage but the ECM has reduced fueling for some reason, either the motor is running rich or the O2 sensor is reading wrong ?

Thanks guys for all the info I'll work my way through them and see how it goes.

Not many ECMs for 08 onwards XBs for sale, ended up getting one off ebay from Australia for my o9 Uly, runs better with the new one and uses less fuel but its slowed the milometer down by about 5%.

Serious question for you Nick, seeing Maz's comment above. Do you forsee micro-squirt or similar controller running people's FI Buells as the OEM stuff reaches end of life? Just curious.
