Finally got my new donor motor for my xb9r03...a xb12 with 3120km km on it and all the goodies with for about 1000pounds less than they´re asking for an 04 motor over here and a three month warranty from the wreckers! When I open it up, I see the mayhem!! THe delivery service (swedish mail) seems to of a)dropped it, b)backed over it, or c) smashed it.

So now I´m without a motor again!! F :shut: ck me I´m getting really tired :headbang:  :tosser:  :headbang:

The pics they have of it before sending don´t have that funky lean to it....

Shoot, that has been smacked, hasn't it!

I was thinking that you might be able to get a decent engine from putting bits of the two you have together but that damage is amazing!

It certainly looks as if it's fallen off the back of a lorry ......

It came a 5 hour truck ride from stockholm,...just too many stops and changes I guess. The original bike had a smashed front headlight and a dent in the tank....insurance company decided to write it off, it was one of those too good to be true deals. I´ll get my money back since it was insured by the wrecker through delivery and I as said I had a 3 month waranty on its condition but I´m not likely to find one for that price in that condition in this country so I´m back to sh't creek without a paddle

They tend not to write bikes off for a smashed headlight and a dent in the tank.

But if the engine looks like it's been through a train wreck, they will.

What is it they say about things that look too good to be true... ;)

Better luck next time.

Al

Unless, of course, the tank happens to be the frame ... ;)

It has deffo been down on the RHS, that is road rash on the exhaust... Not sure how the swing arm axle clamp could have been broken unless it was really wallopped...

This is the original bike before they took the motor off. They were smart enough to take pictures of the motor packed on the crate before it was shipped (standing straight up) and the vin number should prove there case......but I´m still without a motor...and the road rash on the header is the only damage that was there too begin with

Like the man said...with labour costs of 750kr/(56-58/pounds) per hour here the insurance companies tend too write bikes off quickly if the frame/tank is wrecked & the headlights smashed

The post office now say´s if the reperations do not pass the cost of the engine they´ll fix it. I have recieved a quote from one of the 2 shops here in sweden I´d leave my bike too for the exact same amount....new crank side, rocker cover, 02 sensor & gasket kit + labour. I just need the shop too make sure the engine is in full working condition when it´s returned, might turn out to be a good deal?!?!?

Anyone know if the rocker cover top is the same from the 07 xb12 too the 03 xb9??

Frikin hillarious....the postal office decided that it´s not their fault that the engine was damaged and that it was due to the way it was packaged and the loose "tiedowns". The company I bought it from has appealed their decission so know they´re going to have another inspection but it´s still all done through the post office and their staff.

....doesn´t matter how hard the thing was tied down when it´s been trashed during delivery and the only reasons the ties were loose was cause something dropped it or hit it

cause the costs were enourmous. Would of ended up paying the same amount but only for the labour costs and parts not including if the crankshaft needed to be split and no other parts than shown repaired....and then I still would of had too put it together without any garanties if I f@cked up......I´m not much of a gambler

...the company sending the motor is now going legal with it seeing that this is not the first time this has happened for them....´just have too wait now i guess.
