I had a Vauxhall Chevette (all pushrod 1300cc 50bhp of it) that would indicate 120mph

Mine is an XB12Ss 09 plate, June 2008 manufacture date, Remus revolution 09, Remus powerizer, K&N filter & ultimate airbox, 121mph as saved by Garmin Zumo 550 on a ride in France in June, bike had 1200 miles on the clock, wasnt watching the speedo, trying to get past a GS who Kept thinking about overtaking a girl on a Monster who thought you had to brake hard half way through every corner, your mate should take his bike down to a rolling road, More Speed Racing in poole, tubbs is the man there, or if you are in the north contact Maz, he could tell you where to go, dependent on what mood he is in

Tell your mate to use the last two gears, he'll shag the cheese gearbox if he only uses the first three.

That woudn't work, Pash - by the time they got up to 120, they'd be half a mile apart :?

Let's see, that would be about 5600 rpm in top for the xb12..............about as far as I would take my '9' in top gear (on a private air field of course)

I don't care about the top speed................but if he must, your mate could try running it in some more by building up the revs over time and longer runs. Like how many miles has it done? ;)

"Top speed for an xb12ss 09"
A lot depends on the height of the drop plane.
I'd recommend the C-130. Probably the H3 variant.

might be right about the different bars, mind you I'm convinced I was hiding much of my mass behind the fairing!

when my xb9r-03 ran it would show around 136 (220km/h) on the speedo...hopefully i did the math right there...think I might of had it up there too many times though ;)

...so 115 seems a little low, sounds like there´s too much crap slapped on to make it go fast which is doing the exact opposite??

I would question the wisdom of running an XB engine flat out until it was very well "run-in" and although the book says 500 miles, on a 12, it is more like 4000 miles IMO.

An engine will reach its peak output, once run-in, and that output will drop off with use. Strokers and air cooled engines need more care in there early life to get the best from them.

My engine got better and better with use and really came to life at about 6k.

It is, of course, down to the owner to do as they wish with there property.

My old STT would bounce happily off the rev limiter in top - about 143 on the clock. I only did it once to see what it would do, but I was scared of the consequences of keeping a tuned Sportster on the limiter for too long.
