Oooo.... the second oil thread today, and this one in the tech forum.

Run away, Smoffie, run and never look back!

Oh, and use Harley's stuff. :D

sorry Normy but the search function on this site is just bloody frustrating!!

Tried to search "oil" for past threads but apprently that is not specific enough, nor is "oil XB12R" nor "what oil xb12R" etc so gave up and posted a new one.

Hadn't read the front page where it tells you not to post oil threads on the tech forum, SORRY!!

I like it. 8-) (The search function, in case peeps get confused when kindergarten has kicked out later)

Rather than not specific enough, if you use the word "oil" in a search, you get the phrase "because they are too common" That might give a hint about how often it appears.

A search on, for instance, 20w50 might have helped (check out the first reply  ) or a search for synth, synthetic, or check out the "How To" section, where oil has its own thread.

Not a problem for me, I think it's funny. I know that there might be others whose view is a little more discerning. :D

Still confused, though, between your thread title and your question: which of the 2 of you needs the lube?

If riding above freezing point, then 20W50 - always use the smallest spread of weights, this reduces amount of VI additives, leaving room for the oil itself ;) Mostly sold as dino oil. Buell manuals say to choose Diesel engine oil (API CF and up), because these tolerate a higher load of ashes and combustion residue (this is not from the manual, but that's the reason behind).
