Another mod from my last XB, the throttle cables run a terrible route as standard, not sure what Erik was thinking when he trapped them behind the cast headlight/instrument nacelle. Probably the reason the return is so heavily sprung to overcome the cable stiction.

Last time I think I made a couple of holes, this time I got a bit creative with a triangle shape that looks almost factory.

Image

This means the cables follow a much more natural arc.

The horn lost the bracket and is relocated.
Image

Not sure about the other ends of the cable, should the return cable be bent like this?

I need to make a small bracket for the clutch cable now as that pulls in awkwardly at the mount on the lower tie bar.

Still waiting for some dry weather to put a coat of clear 2K on the rear subframe.....

Cheers dude! :yup:

Final result wont be radical, I like OEM+ restos, tidy with everything working properly.

Renthals and some higher Firestorm pegs if I can find some....

Obviously not a patch on the previous owners skills but I made a numberplate bracket and a clutch cable bracket,

Just need cleaning up a bit now.

Been waiting for a dry warmish day for....well...ever it seems.

Today it arrived and I could finally get some 2K clear coat on the last bits of XB

Ford magnum grey and some clear coat

Happy with that, now I can put it back together. :D

Opened up holes in the tailpiece, then fitted some pieces from an old strip light diffuser to keep the wet out. Should be enough to shed some light on the number plate and keep the MOT man happy.

Image

Where does this go, and how much do I need to undo to get it fitted?

Got most of the back end back together, pretty chuffed with how it looks.

Worked out where the plastic wire guide went and with a bit of jiggery and some pokery I managed to get it fitted with just the removal of the rear cylinder tie bar so I could get my fingers in to locate the wires into their respective channels.
Few little bits to tidy up now, buy some road tax and we are go.
