,,good to see your sense of humour is bearing up Panth,,,this scenario you're facing now is the reason I sold my Firedbolt, and kept the X1,,,I had the good sense to actually listen to what Maz had to say on the subject,,,all this dosn't help you any I know, and my heartfelt condolences for your situation,

,,,and yes, I DID actually LOVE my Firebolt, Maz and myself had many "words" on the subject, but common engineering sense won the day, and I sold my beloved Firebolt (I bought her brand new, first new bike I'd had since '77),,,I still have my X1, a cracking bike,,,but as far as I have seen these last few years,,still a fucking ticking timebomb,,,if only the bloody thing wasn't soooooooooo fantastic to ride !!!,,,that would have been sacrificed at the alter of "common sense",,and I would be back on an old Triumph or Beeza a year ago

,,,like many others here, Buell has left an unpleasant taste in my mouth,,and it isn't really Erik's fault as far as I can see, his dream and story is one of a true hero to my mind, it's just "corporate buisiness" got in the way/enabled it all to happen,,,one of those things I guess,,,fuckin' "bean-counters" rule the world, and have for some time,,,,as a wise man once commented,,, "NOoooooooo fuckin' soul whatsoever!"

,,,really hope the "Muses" work for you on this one fella,,,

:yup: :worthy: wise words

Just being a nosey bastid, Panther......has Tubbs quoted the work and if so, can I be so bold as to ask.....how much ? :oooops:

To make it fair, I would be charging around a grand for labour, based on 40 quid an hour (I dont charge vat) plus parts at cost......depending on what else was found during the strip down, I reckon my final invoice would be around the 1500-2K mark.

I think that all 2004(?) up Sporties have the same trapdoor-less gearboxes as the XB's, but as a rule they don't tend to get used a hard as Buells do.
Having said that, I know one 57 plate 883 that's just coming up for it's second 10K service without any problems, bar corroded fasteners.
That's rock salt for you.
