The rear [vertical] edge of my 2001 M2 gearcase cover gasket is oozing/weeping oil just below where the oil vent hose is.
The part no. is 25263-90C. Is it a fairly straightforward job to remove the downpipes and gearcase cover, or will I find that when the cover is removed all the cam gears will fall out? :?

thanks

Rob

ps I could try a gob of araldite on the outside I suppose [and obviously risk getting banned from ever going any where near :maz: for fear of :nutkick:

You need to unload the cams first, follow Adam's guide on the How To for cutting your cover down...

You'll need the later laminated gasket which is suffix D.
You'll also need to remove both rockerbox assemblies.....make sure you get the latest vulcanised steel gaskets.
Also buy a gearcase oil seal.
Cam gears may well fall out but they're dead easy to set up/time, so dont panic too much.
Whilst you're in there, I would deffo fit the 06 oil pump drive gear ......and why not take this opportunity to cut the case down and re-route the oil lines

Err, Maz, don't forget his proposed solution was a blob of Araldite, I think you may have now made that more likely

... you said it Bonz

Thanks Maz, I'll try and give you a call later this week and sort out the parts I need. Not sure about cutting down the case though, is it really worth it? [Adam's instructions don't show the final result insitu].
