Current ride: Buell X1 2001
Now that Harley have stopped making Buells to concentrate on making chrome cocks for latent homosexuals, I will now never own a Harley. MV Augusta is being sold as well now they have probably stripped the technology from them, much like rover and bmw.

I also notice that on this web page http://www.marketwatch.com/story/harley ... 2009-10-15 They lost 84% on their profits. That would producing overpriced chrome cocks for ....... rather than affordable Buells.

If I was Erik Buell , I would tell Harley Davidson to go f**k themselves and recreate Buell, and use various engines. Even talking to Ducati would be a good idea.

But now Buell will be no more how many models of each bike were sold, and specifically the X1 , is mine now worth more money because they have stopped production?

That, for all those who keep banging on about the value of there bike, just about covers it.

And, for those who keep banging on about spare parts, that should not be a problem either.

We did have a thread about tuber production numbers a few years ago but I can't remember the data.

Perhaps the real Buell anoraks like CJ, Adam and :maz: will be kind enought to do the honours.

In ball park figures, I think the world-wide total number of X1's would be of order 10,000 with perhaps about 10% of those having come to the UK. S1s and skinny M2s will be rarer still - I think the offical UK figure for 1997 Buells was only about 500 bikes, i.e. ~300 S1 and ~200 M2.

I also recall a few months ago :maz: more or less advised someone to scrap a high mileage M2 as it would have been beyond economic repair, so these bikes will be becoming rarer with time - at least until we get good community 3rd party spares arrangements in place. When I was particularly active in MAG / FEMA about 10 years ago, 3rd party spares was one of the hot riders rights topics of the day. This was because major manufacturers were trying, under the aegis of copyright protection, to lobby the EU so that 3rd party spares provision would become illegal under EU law. Thankfully they lost - so riders are not tied to only getting spares made by the original manufacturers of their machines.

looks like we gonna have some rare bikes on our hands CJ so guess we better look after them , specially as a lot ave been chopped.

Oh and babybadger (what kinda name is that - not homosexual i hope ) you sound like a bigotted cock when you diss harleys and other riders - get a life and show some respect. I am sure all the board racers and flat trackers had a lot more bottle than you better at riding than you on their early harleys .

I think they've all either been written off, chopped or turned into cafe-racers by Matt :o

I always wanted an S3T really but they did not sell them in the UK in 1997 so I had to make do with a razorback M2 instead. I did get to borrow a '98 spec one for a week at the end of 1997 though, when I was helping BUK run in their demo fleet for them. From an objective viewpoint though I now reckon an S3T would be totally outclassed by an R1100RS, never mind a VFR or a "sprident".

The original 1997 BUK demo fleet included a pearlescent white S3. This colour choice made it stranglely good for making fast progress on UK motorways :twisted:
