My throttle cable has worn through the nylon guide that fits inside the r/h switchgear on my '97 m2. Anybody have one going cheap, or know how to repair?

Dunno where you are, JJ cables, 01926651470 (Warks) can make cable assy complete, need original for pattern. :)

Iirc Beef had a similar problem with the guide some years ago. I think he managed to sort it in some way. I have a large chunk of self lube plastic, you could hack one out with a pen knife ;) :lol:
Don't HDB sell them or do you have to buy the complete twist grip assembly?
Is it possible for a body shop etc to plastic weld it?

:idea: If it's the throttle tube your're talking about then you get one free with a set of Buell "traction" grips which are not that expensive.

That's what I was thinking Mas, but I was hoping that someone out there had one going 'cheap' (no chick jokes gentelmen please). I love to find solutions that cost nothing, Thanx 4 the tips guy's.

:maz: my boy is also 13, and has 3 hairs on the nut that has dropped..the other one as I write is swinging in the wind, frek I wish I was back at school......go home mate and turn the komputer off :!: :!: :!:

I did indeed have this problem. As an interim I filled the worn groove with araldite then once it dried filed it smooth. This lasted 2 years, but be aware that the cable started wearing through the repair.......until one day it jammed in the groove and stuck on wide open throttle. The best fix by far is to get a new/second hand unit off a later M2-its a straight swap and has a better design and feels much much better

I was thinking about araldite, but the throttle cable problem was in the back of my mind....btw wl/8... you can bridge it...so ca I (but not under fire)

Well you do the araldite for a temp fix til you can get your hands on another one....as for the rest-waaay toooooo cryptic for me, you'll have to throw me a bone on that one :!: :oooops:

Right I now know how to do it, Step one go to a toy shop and buy some 'playdough' ....step two mould this with one side flat push the playdough into the guide, flat side down.....step three insert araldite from under (where the cable has worn thro') .....step four leave in the sun all day while drinking cold beer...lastly put it in warm water and give the playdough to the kid next door...smooth finish :D
