The ignition switch's position won't fit with this one. Rerouting the clutch cable worked fine for me and also had no problems with the switches, there's enough cable hidden behind the fairing. I got new throttle cables, but the R version is too short and the S version too long, and a new brake line also. This is the only must, I guess, as the old one is much too short. I chose a third party line, frentubo or LSL, don't remember any more.

Spike , i had the LSL top yoke on my old XBR , a set of XBS pegs as they are lower by an inch.
i had to get a longer brake hose , £15 from a hydraulic hose specialist
(braided stainless).
the clutch cable i just re-routed, the cables were all ok ,
i think i had Renthal ultra low bars , i cut about 1/2" off the ends.

pm me if you need advice on this :sun:

I've just done a set for my 1125r because I am also old and worn and because I can, there is a fair bit to do though, if the xb is similar to my 1125 you'll have to extend the wiring by a couple of inches and also the throttle cables, clutch and brake hoses.

I could supply the yoke though, post some pictures tomorrow.

Erik Buell started out building factory 'streetfighters'.......a fuck off engine with a wheel either end, somewhere to sit and a tank for fuel.
The bikes handled really well and were different to anything else on offer from the other manufacturers.
Even when corrupted by the HD dollars the XB series sort of managed to continue the theme, even though the best part of the bike was hidden by the silly frame/fuel tank.
The R series of XB (and 1125) was no more than a marketing ploy to try and grab a share of the typical jap buying brigade and IMO are the most ridiculous models Buell ever made.
Erik would say that he's a racer and the R series reflects that but his company is/was renowned for making street bikes that work in the real world.......considering the average age of his customer base, he should've left the arse in the air and steer via the front spindle to the other manufactures that cater for the just got into biking/MCN reading types.

....Oh and Spike.......you might want to check your gearbox output bearings before spending another penny on the bike

I resemble that remark!

Been riding for 2 years. First bike was a Yamaha MT-03 - kind of like the Buell Blast, then an SRAD - took 3 months to realise sportsbikes with IL4s were no good for the roads and went back to looking for something like the MT-03 but with more power. Now I have an XB Lightning.

The more I read this post the more worried I become.
If I read this in connection with viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4664 I come to the conclusion that in your opinion the 1125CR is the highest evolution of the Buell motorcycle.

WRONG because if this was correct that would make jonnyboyrebel a true visionary and I for one am not prepared to accept him as the Messiah. You need to rethink your opinion and admit you bought your new bike with beer goggles or JBR could be our new cult leader
