Here, the government has learned from Vietnam, and suppresses :o yes suppresses any images of the repatriation flights that come in to Dover AFB about 1-1/2 hours from here. No images of fallen soldiers, nor their coffins, all sanitized press from the war zones abroad. All one hears is the report of number wounder or dead. Nice and abstract. Thought for another thread... another rant.

Meanwhile, good on ya. Ride on. Sorry for the digression.

Jill, go!
It will be one of the most moving and aweinspiring things you will ever do. Stick with the group you're in, avoid the tossers (they will be easy to spot) and feel part of something so much bigger than you could ever have imagined. In a crowd that big it'll be difficult for anyone to be really stupid anyway, if you stay within the group and no-one will be riding fast. Revel in the solidarity of being a biker.
I am trying frantically to work out how I can do this, hubby won't do it, for his own reasons and with my parents the way they are I'm not sure how I can be away for a day, especially that one, being mothers day and all, but if I can I will be there. This is about respect for the lads that have given their lives and about how we can show our respect for that. What better cause?
xx

I've persuaded Steven that as it's mothers day and I'm his mother he needs to escort me, as long as my parents are able to be left we will be there, it's my treat :D

Why don't those of us from the Essex suffoolk Kent Sussex Surrey area meet at the first services on the M4 after the M25.

It's true the first year on RTTW it was chaos, lots of people caught up in the event and everyone waving at them etc. instead of looking where they are going and around them. Last year was a bit better. You just need to go into knowing everyones out to get you and expecting a lot of traffic.

Spoke to my BIL yesterday, he spoke to his son Friday, there's going to be a big push in afghanistan soon, we need to show our support.

I wanted to go to this with some of my local crew, but the fumes from all those bikes in close proximity plays havoc with me asthma.

Wondered when it would happen, Help for Heroes site says Registrations temporarily suspended for the ride. Site says:- 10,000 plus bikes and 13,000 rider/pillions!!!!
I tried to register yesterday, not sure yet if I was successful.

I managed to register today. Type in your reg number at the bottom of the page and it will tell you if you are registered.

So who is going down from around the London, Kent, Surrey, Essex area?
Are we all interested in meeting up and going down together?

I'm still hoping to, as long as we can get registered. As soon as I get a chance I'll get that sorted and then will be very interested in meeting up and joining a group.
Fingers crossed for the registration thing. Gotta dash to work now and then care home tonight so I have no idea when, just hope they haven't really closed the book...

Thanks moongazer. I do actually have a respero mask and scarf, but I don't like to wear them for too long or for all the standing around or waiting these events usually bring. :ill: I'll be doing the open road that day. ;)
