hey guys, does anybody got datatool system 3 alarm/imobiliser on xb :?:
i have some problems i can't understand. when i arm alarm(or automatic arm) it comes on/off screaming about 10 times for about 5-10 minutes and then goes normal :?
if i enter servise/valet mode it comes to diagnostics mode itself with 4 beeps(movement detection, when no body touch it) every 15 secs. if i leave it without movement sensor (press long button) alarm don't come on. if i leave bike over night it gives me diferent very long beep when disarming, but it does it ones, then normal again.
anybody knows how to reset system completely or maybe somebody have wiring scheme for bastard thing :?:
i'm going to 2500miles trip to scandinavia very soon and don't want to get stuck in the middle of nowhere. if it's fucked i'll remove it all together to save myself hasle on my trip.
thanks for any help in advance

ive got 1, rubbish arent they. Mine went funny like that about 2 weeks after i bought the bike, id arm the alarm, walk away and about 30 seconds later the alarm would go off, then be fine until the next time you dis-armed and re-armed the system, i got about a month then the alarm completely ballsed up and wouldnt dis-arm, i had to get the dealer i bought it from to come and collect the bike in their van, and they, luckily, fitted a new 1 free of charge.

went to rome last december and came home to find loads of notes saying it had been going off constantly for 3 days, it carried on going off randomly for the next week then suddenly it was fine. if i was you id remove the alarm and bin it asap, i certainly will be as soon as i get the money, (dealer quoted between £200-£300 to remove it)

datatool alarm seems to help alot on insurance, it halved my premium, but they seem to have a mind of their own.

Datatool is a Cat1 alarm, so has 2x immobilise cicuits and a shit load of other connections, non of the wires are colour coded ie. all black.
It takes me around 6 hours to fit one properly and would take aprox 4 hours to remove and make good.

:maz: is there any way of reseting alarm itself? i looked at datatool website and it says to remove alarm's battery and inline fuse. i'm bit comfused with the fuse 'cause it is after alarm and kills only fuel pump(could be ignition as well) and i can't open bastard box without silly star key with hole in the centre :!:

Yes me as well. The one on the RSV-R was better but still played up and it did sap the battery no matter what they say. It also did not stop it being nicked. They are a waste of time and money IMO.

If you must, as some do, need it for insurance replace it. Otherwise have it removed. I would seriously advise that you get someone who can do this right. Its got a lot of wires and a bad joint WILL come back and bit you one day.

I would go to :maz: if I were you. If your going on a big trip he could go over your bike at the same time.

Sounds good to me :yup:. Best of luck Dude and have a great trip.
