As I live in Bristol and don't have an Italian bike, I will be wandering up and down Corn Street looking after the cakes and pies.

:hehe: nice one, Gunter, although I'm sure Nick wouldn't get past the marshals :D...

Nick - what time do think you'll be wandering up and down Corn Street? We plan to ride down early on Saturday morning and arrive in Bristol around 9.30 - 10.00 am.

I'll be there for then. My dad is going on his Morini. As for getting past the marshals, no problem, just that I would prefer to look after the cakes and pies.

I really fancy this now as my flight to Madeira was cancelled for this morning so no holiday for me. :(
I think the only thing that puts me off is it's quite a long way about 400 miles.
Is anyone staying anywhere as as would need to get booked into a B&B.
Perhaps someone could recommend somewhere.
I think if I do come down I will stop somewhere on the way down as I've not quite got used to the 1125 yet and I don't think it's as comfortable as my XB.

I do like anything Italian with an engine in it. 8-)

I'm planning to drive down from Aberdeen on Thursday but am a bit suspicious that I might get press ganged into joining a ship up here if the planned crew can't make it because of all the volcano shenanigans. keeping fingers crossed.
I'd offer you to stay at my gaff near Southampton Norrie but it not really on the way and can't guarantee I'll be back anyway.

Norrie - we have a room booked on Saturday night but I've just checked and our hotel is fully booked. It's approx. 30 miles north of Bristol, near the M5.

If it helps, a quick search on the internerd shows plenty of reasonably priced rooms in the Bristol area

Ok cheers Chris.
I will have a proper look tomorrow.
Just not sure whether to travel all 400 miles in one day or maybe do 300 on the first day and then do the other 100 on the Sat morning.
I think it all depends on the weather.

Can anyone recommend a good route down from Edinburgh.
I'm thinking down the A7 to Carllisle but not sure from there.
Don't really want to just come down the M6/M5 from there.

It's a well surfaced, uncrowded road with some good fast twisties :yup:
