My xb12r is now 6 years old with 5500 miles and now thinking of changing it , maybe to a year old ish triumph speed triple or even a street triple. Or would I be better off keeping the buell ? I Dont fancy a jap bike either.

There are many reasons why anyone would want to change bikes. In the past I have because I get sort of bored with them after a while. This is not the case with my Uly and do not think it ever will be. But thats just for me. I was not bored with my last bike, XTZ750, but is was worn out at 70k miles and costing big money to keep on the road. The Uly was the closest thing I could find, apart from a GS, to replace it.

The thing is if you sell your XB and then want to go back you will have to buy from a used bike market. You know your bike, you have done anything needed and the engine is now starting to get into its sweet point. You have also taken the "big hit" on its markdown value. I think, in years to come, finding a good Buell will become harder. Its not that easy now.

The Buell and Triumph are like "Chalk and Cheese" IMO. Depends on what you what from your bike I guess. Its a hard call but just remember this. There is almost nothing like a Buell on the market.

Best of luck.

Well maybe nothing's as important as your family, but at 5500 miles your XB is only just run in! If I was in your quandery I'd put the Buell away in the shed on paddock stands for a few weeks turning the back wheel weekly to spread oil round the output shaft bearings. Then I'd have demo rides on the Speed and Street Triples to see which was best. After that I'd sleep on it then get back on my Buell and see what I was missing! ;)

:yup:

I have had my brothers RSVR in my garage with running probs and with lots of head scratching and aprilia forum searching there seems to be a lot of electrical based issues which can be complicated to resolve , any how changed the plugs which are dead easy, checked the HT leads and use of WD40 on connectors (lots of them) it's now running sweet. The price for parts are expensive too.
But when i compare the 2 bike's the aprilia may have 140 odd BHP but it just looks a overly complicated big barge compared to the simple easy on the eye looks of the xbr.
What else is there that would replace my buell :?: even the speed triple looks over fussy. In my opinion it's a shame the new 1125 series looks a bit odd and does not look like the new race bike with the minimal look seat unit and smaller front.

Dunno but I paid £7k for my 1000 Sport last year with 36 miles on the clock :o lOl but it did come with Termis and ECU. Apparently it had belonged to a collector

I realised I had fallen out of love with my Buell when I noticed the mileage I'd put on her last year :oooops: wasn't really even worth the insurance and she was on a SORN for 6 months too. I'd had her 6 years and never had any issues so it wasn't the bike's fault

I've done more miles on the Benelli in 3 weeks than I did on my Buell in the last 2 years and I've found the passion and my smile again. Don't beat yourself up if you fancy a change...they're might be something out there that rings your bell more than a Buell.
