tonight i have noise tested the latest can, which i have been running in for a week now, it measured 104db @5000rpm, idles @ 98db
for a comparison i tried a scorpion 'chambered' can from a cbr600rr as its about the same size as my oval can
the scorpion idled @ 105db!!!!!!!!
i know it was designed for an i-4 but jesus!
a chap over the road from work has a bike breakers, he also owns an r1 with aftermarket cans, he was noise tested recently at a track at 103db,
his friend with a duke with termi's measured 120db
needless to say he didn't get on track
so thats where we're at
i tried an additional silencer but it spoils the lines of the bike and didn't really do diddly squat towards noise reduction.
i think 104-105 is where its gonna end up :headbang:

My X1 with race can made 116db..........................i think the standard 1125 can is 102 according to the vin plate...so 104 /105 isn't bad at all for such a small can :yup:

That's good. All I can manage in the V&H is 111.

You said the new can makes 104db at 5K and 98 at idle.
Have you tested the standard can at 5K and idle?
How about making a twin can like the Free Spirits one?

the only prob i have now is that my standard can isn't standard anymore, but if it says 102 db@5000rpm on the headstock
then 104 from a straight thru design isn't really that bad.
i'm currently working on the 'final solution'
hopefully i can get it finished this week then hopefully book a dyno day with tubbs again :)

I have a bog-standard exhaust if you need one - both of my bikes are still running stock exhausts and I also have a spare !
