Can you rememeber what maps are in that spare ecu i got from you Pash? not too worried if totally correct as intend to just set tps then take with me and if bike cuts again swap it straight over to see if i get instant restart.

Having a similar problem with my X1, and am totally stumped . It starts, revs for a sec. then dies. I am awaiting a new coil at the moment as the resistance on the old one was twice what it should be on both windings. Also re mapping the ecm thanks to Pash :worthy:
Sodding thing always plays up when the weathers good.

Just to clarify, Martin's X1 had an XB9R ECM (BUEGB231), with all the XB9R maps, rev limiters etc. I have created him an EEPROM to load to set all these things as the X1 (BUEJA120) should have been. Not the reason why it doesn't run, but it may not have been helping things...

Martin.................are you sure the resistances are bad because both the coil on my bike and the spare i have are showing readings twice what it says in the manual if you take the readings from HT outlet to HT outlet and across the two outer terminals on the primary.........if you take readings using the center pin as a common you'll find that all readings will half and be in spec :yup: .........can't see that both my coils have failed identically ;) ....I've fitted my spare one for now but don't hold much hope for it curing the problem though.

Your right kev, tis half. so is the manual is wrong ? it tells you which contacts to test.
got a cam sensor on its way as you did but reading your posts i am not getting my hopes up.
a duff ecm may be another line of enquiry.
Looks like we are in the same boat. :headbang:
Will be interesting to see who comes up trumps first
Cheers.
