That is simply not true! I don't believe he lied to me! If others have a problem with me - jog on!

rather a rash statement there Paul, as an ImechE, Maz has probably forgotten more than you will ever aspire to know, as a glimpse under the bonnet of his handbuilt cosworth tranny would confirm,,,not a dig here y'understand, just an observation

Notice I never mentioned anything about his spannering. Despite my dislike of the bloke's attitude towards me, I totally respect his mechanical skill, he's probably a brilliant mechanic! I was merely commenting on his tuning/remapping skills on a dyno thats all.

Jus cos Maz doesn't have a dyno (I certainly don't) doesn't mean that he doesn't understand the fundamentals of making engines work properly, and that's exactly what he does, using what Erik did as his baseline and improving where required. If he chose to, I am sure he could be the dyno king of the north west, and undoubtly he could've written the same guff as me, but probably doesn't have the time nor inclination.

Nick couple things upon completing your text book, indepth, mini disitation of fuelling is that...

What's the problem then?

Thanks Nick but as maz has suggested (albeit with attitude as usual  ) explaining how it all works is beyond me and I think you know it! I suspect you were having a largh when you were typing!

Not at all and it has never been my intention.

My original question was asking "what next" basically? and it seemed to make sense to book in for a dyno. My bike is not running bad and it has no more flat spot but I want the correct fueling so everything runs smooth with max torque. I'm tempted to buy a tfi unit but I know you don't recommend them! You don't recommend off the shelf maps either and now you seem to be saying no to Dyno? Tubbs don't tune bikes, Maz is not willing and hasn't really got a clue about tuning anyway! lOl That leaves EBR but they don't do a map for my exhaust so I would have to buy their ECM + tuning software and then find someone with knowledge to do it = back to dyno people again. There is always yourself you has offered to help, and I am grateful but I need hands on rather than try this, try that over a forum like you are doing with "philgood"!

My biggest fear is that you will still be disappointed no matter what you fit. And if you trawl the various Buell forums, you will find people that don't always get what they want in fuellers, ECMs and off-the-shelf maps.

My goal is to fix these...

1. excessive popping on overrun
2. idle still shows signs of being uneven
3. bike feels abit lumpy low down. Fast running (50-60-70-80-90) is fine.
4. Fueling needs to match free flowing exhaust and K+N
5. I want the smoothest, fastest running buell possible!
6. bike seems to take twice as long to start from cold since refitting FS, but it has only been 2/3 times!

So what is the answer............give up, return to stock and sell the bike? I've come this far, progress has been made, I'm not giving up now.

In my experience, if you seek the Holy Grail, you need to weld two lambda sensor bosses on your headers. Maybe Trojan or Free Spirits would be interested in sponsoring the activity in exchange for a free map, or maybe you could persuade Albert666 to make you some slave header pipes for test purposes.

You then need to follow the process I used, on the old forum and in the tuning guide.

1. I don't want to weld anything my headers or have a set made
2. I don't do tuning, it's out of my depth and I don't have time but I happy to pay someone to do it for me!

Well, this means that you (or a selected tuner) won't be able to optimise your fuelling on your bike, so the answer is to buy a custom map.

Give Dris a ring at Twin Motorcycles, tell him I sent you ;)

I've been in contact with Dris and he seems confident he can provide a custom map for my exhaust. He's doing a map for a Buell with this exhaust in July apparantly!

I've also spoken to EBR and they can only recommend their programmable race ECM kit and told me to find a knowledgable tuner at a dyno!

All this advise, I'm trying to pick my way through it all as there are a few options hense why were chatting about this!
