I had a '89 RR Vogue SE V8, a '95 110 CSW, a '94 90 CSW and a '06 90 XS. Now have a '07 Jeep Wrangler Sahara CRD (short wheelbase) in Rescue Green and absolutely love it.

I had a '08 Scg until it got replaced by a KTM 690SMR.
Go for it. I'm sure you will as it sounds like you've already made your decision.
I don't think the '09 models are dramatically improved. I may be wrong but I think apart from the aesthetics, the only improvements are the front caliper (which was fine anyways IMO) and the belt.
I think the primary drivers for changing the exhaust are the fact that the stock item rusts to the point of looking scruffy within a few hundred miles, and I guess to get a marginally better power output and noise. I don't imagine that the exhaust would contribute much to the vibration.

Hmm...

The first one I remember was a '60 or '61 88" SII (I think) hardtop, which arrived in the family before I did! We've had a couple of 1980s RR's, one of which is still in a shed and about to lose its alloys to my 110".

I like them but only in the same way that I like Snap-Ons (not strap ons!). They are excellent tools, properly engineered and better than I will ever need, and I want to lick them whenever I get one in my hands! Does that make me an enthusiast?

My dream would be an early/mid '90s 110 County SW and a 90" truck from the same period to "play" with but, as with GG, very few mods beyond a cage and maybe a front winch.

Cloudbreaker......that's quite a list of vehicles you've had there...lucky you. I do believe that the old rangie classics and vogues are the best looking!

I'll probably get a red Scg as although I really don't like red bikes, I do kind of like this one and unfortunately, the black doesn't have the translucent option, which again, I've suprised myself by liking. What I might do is have the wheels painted, leaving the forks red and having a red strip on the rim (not mine ) to match on both sides. I'v seen it and it looks great IMO. I Not too much red then, but still enough to carry it through.

I've no problem controlling my right hand cause I'm left handed

Have you thought about possibly doing a 1125CR colour scheme on it.
I think the black wheels with red stripe and the black tank with red logo woudl look really smart on the '09 blacked-out hardware.
Just a thought.

Depends on the purpose. We go out with all sorts of other vehicles and you would not believe how many times we have to rescue others. They aren't as usable as many of the others are now, but I'll always love them!

Thought i had wandered into an off road forum for a minute......phew.

To get back to topic ... My wife Sue has a xb12 s, loves it, regards my X1 as a prototype....... Like you she thinks Eric made it for her. So comfy and right that she is doing the National rally with me this year. 500 miles in 20 hours, starting at 2pm Sat 4th July.

She rides a wr250 off road in Enduro's,Rallies and greenlaning. I have tried to greenlane in a landy. Can't see the fun i'm afraid,after a bike it's boring,sorry. Can you explain the fascination for landies,they are the most uncomfortable and rough vehicles ever made.The only way you can drive,even on the road, is to have your right arm removed or the window open. When you have your license and a bit off experience come out with us for a day, we can lend you a bike and lead you out.

I can see the appeal of Enduros and greenlaning on bikes, but not interested in that myself......I love the Landy and I dont think that'll ever change. Just one of those things I guess, you either love them or you don't. They are a British Icon....60 years and hardly changed at all with 85% ever made still on the road....just awesome vehicles. Series and Defenders were made for utility, so no comfort needed or wanted, that's where discos and rangies came in, but even they still have all the off road ability. It's the technical side of the driving that I quiet like......oh, and if you're ever on Salisbury in the wet months, me and Dan act as quite useful depth testers for all the bikers....lol. They sit and watch as we go through water over our bonnet and say, "yeah....maybe we'll give that a miss"....lol. Even had to tow a bike once it was so deeply sucked into the mud...hahaha!

An update for all....the Buell will be waiting for next year......Dan got home last night, piled me into the car and drove me to Trowbridge, where he showed me the bike he wanted to buy me. He wanted me to sit on and have a play on it first so I'd be sure it was comfy and I'd be happy with it and he bought it for me.

I'll post a pic when I get one of it but....it's a CBR400 Gullarm NC29. It's 17 years old and in AMAZING condition. The plastics have the odd scuff as you'd expect, but the guy has bought it, dropped the engine out, overhauled it, done the valve clearances, cleaned the carb.....we looked at the other one he was doing and he literally takes bike apart and does complete overhauls. He's replaced with new about 45% of the parts, new brake lines etc....the only things he hasn't done yet are the chain and sprockets. He said he has the new ones in the garage (which he showed us) but as there's still a good couple of thousand miles at least in the ones on it, he didn't see the point. Me and Dan can do that anyway and we got him down £200 from advertised price, so a bit of a bargain given the condition of most on the market.

The BabyBlade is the one bike that we have both always wanted, I sat on it and was as comfy as I was on the Buell easily. It's an older bike, so I'll get my first few thousand miles done on this and then get a new Buell for next year and we'll keep the babyblade for occasional and track day fun!

Can anyone explain the fascination in Landies? The ultimate in basic transport, through, over, round most anything. I've been stuck driving some handy off-road kit, but never in a Landie. The ones I like have the basics (engine, gearbox, tyres and a bit of something to keep the rain off) and little else. A bit like an S1 but with 3 extra driven wheels.

I hate the phrase but I can't think of anything better than "If you have to ask the question, you'll never understand the answer".
