I may be wrong and most probably am but check your wheel bearings, before you fork out money on disc. Worth a try ;)

Not as daft as it sounds ..........a workmate once had a cbr 600 honda that after a flat out run the brake would come back to the bars .......that was caused by wheel bearings allowing the disc to push the pads back.

Finally got the R out and took it for a spin - the front braking is definitely better than it was before cleaning, although still not perfect. Think I will take the disc off and give it a proper clean up on the workbench.

May need to invest in a new set of pads as well, just to be sure.

DTI dont give an acurrate reading due to it being a floating disc.

Buell disc aren't floating are they? :coat:

No, I don't - but I know someone who does. I just wanted to see if there was any sign of improvement before I fully cleaned it and checked it properly.

Worst case scenario ? It will be delivered by ParcelFarce !

Usually they will "contact you" and ask you to pay 20% import duty, 20% VAT on top of that and then their "fees collection charge" of about £10-£15 before they will deliver it to you. I say "contact you" because last time I had the pleasure of their delivery service I had to call them after the vendor said that it had been despatched weeks earlier - ParcelFarce claimed they had been trying to contact me on my mobile for 2 weeks, but I had no missed calls and the number they had was correct - as for the delivery itself, they botched that too and that took a further 2 weeks ...

But you may be lucky, it may come by another carrier ...

Not so lucky. It cleared customs after I emailed them to ask them why it was taking a week to clear a brake disc through customs.

I'm glad I went for the replacement option. When I removed the old disc, both the original mounting kit and the mounting points on the actual disc were a tad worn to say the least. I'll post some piccies when I can be arsed to take some. My old disc is also slightly pitted in places which is probably what was causing the judder.

Hopefully the EBR disc and mounting kit will make an improvement and reduce the over heating.

From date of order, 2 weeks.

For most of the 2 weeks, the bits were actually in the UK.

I've had brake judder on mine since using ferrodo pads, so I assumed they must be similar material to the OE pads which started to judder within a few thousand miles. So when I changed the tyres (bearings FAG still ok after 8,000 miles) I changed the pads to EBC sintered which I normally use; cleaned the disc as suggested here. Unfortunately I still had the judder but only on heavy braking (normal use - no judder).

I gave EBR a ring and had a long chat with a guy called Danny - very helpful. He explained that you can clean it all you want but once the pad material bonds itself to the disc (undetectable to the eye) the only answer is a new disc - so I bought their 6mm + mounting kit. He also explained that the new disc would dissipate the heat quicker than the original, being larger & having grooves top & bottom,

On fitting, I found one wheel bearing very slightly notchy - probably caused by the judder?? So I replaced both; put on the new disc with new EBC pads. Dropped the bike off the stand & smashed the right front mirror (oh shit! & thanks Steve/Nobby for a prompt replacement - expensive game this - ha ha).

I have done about 300 miles now and the difference is amazing. The rotor is now fixed & not fully floating. The brake feels much stronger, similar to the brembo monoblocks that I have on my 848 Ducati. The only difference is that I use 2 fingers on the Buell on heavy braking whereas I never use more than 1 on the Duke. There is a very slight delay (hardly noticeable) when the brake is cold or wet before biting hard - probably caused by the fact that the disc is now fixed.

I have attached some pics - you can see the difference especially after I had used it. The grooves are clearly visible and the extra width . About 5mm on the top and about 2mm at the bottom.

Definitely worth the money and agro :sun:

Never mind Parcelfarce, I had to go to the Depot of Interlink tonight to pick something up after a couple of failed deliveries. I was there when the van arrived and I told the driver what I thought about his navigational skills. The little feker squared up to me, started shouting and then walked off when I told him his day could suddenly get a lot worse lOl
The Depot manager escorted me off the premises, explaining that the driver had 'run out of time'. I shared my opinion with him too lOl
