Thanks to Spen for suggesting this event :worthy: - we would have hated to miss it. Today was a glorious mix of classic racing and displays, with all the sights, sounds and smells that epitomise CRMC events. Plus there was the added bonus of the Yamaha Classic Racing Team and Yamaha Europe putting on a great show.

The highlight of the day must have been American former GP racer Steve Baker riding the 2011 red & white 50th Anniversary Moto GP M1 on demo laps - what a sound :P, you could hear it doing a lap of Donington, even if you couldn't see it. Steve may have retired from competitive racing in 1978 but he did the M1 justice and rode down the start/finish straight mostly on the back wheel.

There was plenty of interesting racing machinery on display. Perhaps the most notable of these were Steve Spray's rotary Norton and Rossi's 2011 Moto GP Ducati.

At lunchtime Steve Parrish conducted interviews with John Cooper, Phil Read and Chas Mortimer - all very interesting.

Was great to see you. Shame the bike exploded in Sunday's first race. After a cracking win in Saturdays race all was looking good for Brock to clinch the C'ship. Unfortunately, as Brock was leading the first Sunday race, the ring pin worked it's way in and allowed the ring on the left hand piston to turn and snag the inner transfer port, wrecking the piston and barrel, quick rebuild and out for the second race, but the bike wouldn't pull so he had to retire...... bastard, bastard, bastard.....

Nice to meet you Spen (albeit briefly) having said that I can tell when a mans busy!
Nice to meet up with Chris and Jayne again too.
It was a great day and couldnt get over how relaxed it all was.. Being able to just wander about in the pits
was brilliant. I was very impressed by how the riders "went for it" on some pretty exotic and rare
machinary. Was a great day and thoroughly recomended.

Regards

Lima

Lea paraded the 500 Manx and 350 Harris Yamaha... he was at race pace after 2 laps...... there were a lot of tear filled eyes when he came back to our garage.... two years to the day since he broke his neck in Ulster.
