Jeez, talk about "things that make you go hmmm...."

Sorry to disrupt the tech forum yet again, but here's the man himself at the inaugural Sproutfest, between another Garry and Alison

Hi Garry1, Garry2 here-
My spragg clutch went many moons ago, I think before I found UKBEG :!:
DG20 didn't have one in stock, was told it'd be at least 2 weeks so got one from Trojan. Fitted it myself, pretty bloody simple right up to the point where I had to fit the spring clip, I had to get someone to help as I just didn't have enough hands!!
There is probably a very easy way to do it on your own (no Norm not that!!) but I think from start to finish it took me a couple of hours!

HTH

PS dont be a stranger and post more often-you tosser :!:

Whilst we're doing our best to de-rail a tech forum thread despite G2's efforts (and there's some irony in that!) I think you've an r too many in that Gary if you are referring to the New Forest Elf.

Grand feller, teacher from Brum, his bike was solar-powered bike as I recall.
Was it Roy, perchance?

Roger was the gentleman with the solar power v-twin. 8-) Roy was a local to me, from Hayes or Uxbridge, IIRC, with even more miles on his S1 than G2 has.

Teaching was his second career then, when he became shore-based 8-) ;)

Thanks Maz and G2 for the advice, I'll be contacting Tubbs shortly to pop the bike along to him for some TLC.

I joined in UKBEG when it was forum based, back in '99/'00, can't remember exactly when. Can anyone recall what format the first forum was on?

Looking back at that photo, we were probably all slimmer and mostly hairier, than now

I can't remember the name of it (but I bet Steve will be along soon). I do remember that all posts disappeared after a week, though. Happy Days.

Yeah, I forgot about that  But it did mean we were all very regular on the forum, not wanting to miss out on anything!! I expect that helped mould UKBEG into what it became.

I think Steve was trying to recreate the original CJ forum, where we all had a piece of chalk, and posts disappeared every time it rained.....
