Thanks for posting that - it was interesting to note that it said that the filters were made in the UK - so:

here we go chaps !

I have contacted them asking for a list of dealers - there doesn't appear to be one on their website.

Lastly - cross referenced their part number to see what it will fit:

Compatibility here !

So now we have an alternative source 8-)

Sherlock Holmes would say that the Aprillia filter is the same as the Buell one...

Yep. 8-)

But if they're anything like HDB dealers you will still need to check that an Aprilia dealer gives you the correct one, as they come in short and long varieties ...

... and it starts to make me wonder which other engine parts from an Aprillia might fit, as I assume that the oil filter cover and seal would be the same :|

Anyone using these?

rather than the Q1064.1AM @ 18 notes plus VAT?

Maybe they are not that expensive when the service schedule says to replace every 12400 miles.

Umm. I am not saying that the people here do not know what they are talking about but I knew a guy who replaced an oil filter, on his bike, with a version he thought was right and it fecked the top end. The OEM version had a non-return valve (NRV) in it to stop oil draining back into the sump. The one he used did not. BANG

Ok so not quite the same thing as its a cart oil filter. Apart from anything else, like the bikes warranty which will be void for use of non OEM parts, whats £20 on the £6 to £8K you spent on the bike.

Nick, you did me a good turn once and I will do you one now.

I had a Rotax engine, in my RSV-R, and it was great. "Long story short" use what Rotax spec for parts as they do know what they are on about.

You have two Wright Flyers and a SR-71. Service them as befits there type :yup:.

These oil filters are genuine Rotax parts:

on EBay

May also have to order one of these just to see if they're the same part !

If the oil filter cover is the same - won't know for a while yet - then this will be the o-ring that fits.

I happen to have an Aprilia Caponord with the Rotax engine and I use the long filters. The short filters are the old model. Obviously NO idea whether they fit into the 1125 engine, but it wouldn't surprise me. Just make sure you get the right filter ordered, cause a lot of the dealers (official AND ebay) still sell you the short version. They have similar part numbers.

I've just looked at the markings on a couple of genuine 1125 filters I've got in stock, one made in June '07 and one made in March '08. The top numbers are different - possibly a date code but the rb-x341 number is the same on both :yup:

Yep, we've already established that, but it's still a lot of money for an o-ring ...

What we really need is the o-ring specs so that we can try to source something cheaper ...

I have sourced some O rings and the aluminium and copper crush washers (not common with Aprilia) at a fraction of the (Aprilia and Buell) price.

Wont be trying them for a bit as my bike has only just about reached it's first (free) service...

Picked up the Aprillia Rotax filter on Saturday and it is dimensionally equal to the Buell Rotax filter , the rb code is the same on each. With the Aprillia Rotax filter you do not get the O ring, but since the over the counter price for the Aprillia filter was much cheaper than the Buell Rotax filter the solution is simple
