I've been pretty open about how incompetent i've been with a wrench. Maz provided advice on this forum, for free, but so did a lot of people.

When it appeared that I was going to break my bike to smithereens from my buffoon idiocy , the pm's started rolling in begging me to take it to Maz. (none of them were from the man himself btw).

I'm not as young as I used to be, nor as thin ( :( ) and the trip knackered me, but It was do or die time for the Buell and it was most definitely worth it.

Your point ph about good mechanics standing out from the crowd of poor mechanics is an excellent one, but if the good mechanic is very very good, then it is to be expected that he stands out even more so.

Word of mouth mate, that's all it was. I don't get the ego thing either; the guy is salt of the earth and as grounded as a bomb disposal expert. No drama, no ego. I was expecting to be put to shame whilst I was there, but it followed "let me show you how this works/where this goes" rather than pointing and laughing.

Anyway, this is a service recommendation thread and not a character critique. Swallow your pride and see if you can take your bike up there mate. You'll be surprised.

Yep, I get lots out of Maz (and that's why I've got sweetly running Buells ;) )
Mutual respect between people goes a lot further than anything to do with bikes.
I thought you may have understood that :?

I can't be arsed to write any more on this subject

You've yet to recognise the difference between a grin and a grimace. ;)

I swear it was a grin!!!! I had the camera in the boot of the car, I should have had it ready...but I'm just not that organised  Although I'm not sure that a photo of a being that lives in a dungeon would have come out, you know - like vampires :?
