I'm quite surprised that Nuttah deleted his politically incorrect post about the bearing glue...

I thought I was funny to be honest!
Anyways. Up and off, so here's an update. I finally recovered physcially and mentally from 12+ hours of sanding and fecking polishing, and after a bit of a row with Wieteke about me spending too much time in the garage and making peace, I finally feel like I can see the light at the end of the bloody tunnel with this Buell. I really had NO idea it would be this much work to get this bike back on the road. But then I only have myself to blame for wanting all those bit polished and the polisher cocking it up BIG time. Idiot. He certainly will not be polishing any of my metal bits again, that's for sure!
So. Here's the current status. I've taken the rest of the week off so I can climb this mountain and possibly get the engine back together and maybe even into the frame. But that may have to happen next week, cause I'm still waiting for some parts to come in from Guildford HD.
This is what the polisher left me with (underside of tail section). He probably thought that it wouldn't be visible, but hell yeah, *I* can see it!!

So I spent HOURS sanding the shit down with 80 grit, then 180, then 600 grit and then polishing. I was physically fecked after this and wrecked a drill....

These are the ally bits after polishing. I then degreased them with thinner, and then applied the etching agent that comes with the Por-15 clear coat for ally. Leave it 2 minutes then rinse with water and dry with air gun.

This is the 'costume' I had to wear to paint the bits with the Por-15 stuff. Its 2pak so highly toxic. So I had to go to great lengths in my garage to ensure that I didn't get this stuff on my skin or breathe it in. I was wearing a proper breathing mask under that btw.

You can see in the photo that the swingarm has a bit of an orange peel finish to it. All the other bits have a mirror finish. It was bloody hard to get this painted cause my face 'mask' was fogging up from the inside so I couldn't see exactly what the hell I was doing...

These are some of the engine bits painted in black and silver enamel. The black stuff is brilliant. It dries fast and leaves a nice smooth film of paint when brushed. The silver stuff however is a pain in the arse to brush. That's why I sprayed the heads, barrels and cases. When sprayed it leaves a nice uniform aluminium finish. But when brushed it looks a bit shite. Luckily the only part that I painted in aluminium with a brush is difficult to see!

Pushrod tubes getting a new lease of life.

More updates to follow over the next few days as stuff comes together!
