Update. <sigh> the strap has ripped right through the filter. I now have 9/10ths of the filter off and it is just connect by the top lip of metal. Any ideas on how to remove?

It seriously isn't fucking budging. Just so I can reassure myself here: I'm turning anti-clockwise, right? Lefty-loosy/righty-tighty and all that?

Man you just crack me up
You sound like a really nice bloke, so please stop spannering your bike, and take it Tubbs or Maz. I assure you it will be worth it.
In the interest of a damn good laugh, can you take some pictures of the remnants of your oil filter for us!

Looks like you've tried to shoot it off

The cold chisel is your solution here. Once you've peeled it down from the rubber gasket, it'll turn easily.

BE VERY CAREFUL ;)

BTW, don't Remus have their own bracket for attaching to the front mount? That strap looks poorly fitted (I am no expert cos I have never fitted a post 07 Remus)

lol

It is tempting to shoot something. I am now laughing about this. The kind of resigned laughter you get when you concede defeat.

Anyone near Farnham want to pop by and kick me in the face/help out? I have plenty of tea and coffee-which I know how to make btw.

I'll also order some helicoil kit. Just need to know the size required (m10/m8 etc) and pitch of thread size.

arse :(

could you explain that in more detail for me please? :)

just wedge a chisel in and start levering? until it pops out?

pash; that is the second (replaced) strap after the first twanged. That was fitted by a specialist, so was hoping it was ok :( The plastic/rubbery half moon thing has cracked in the middle btw

NOOOOOO  you'll knacker the sealing face.

CUT the metal back with the chisel until you reach the rubber gasket. It's that which is causing it to stick.
Get a mate with a van/trailer to take it to a bike shop and let them do it. A chisel is a sharp tool lOl

Not trying to ba smartarse here (you wouldn't believe some of the machinery I've butchered over the years lOl ), but I think you best leave it to someone else ;)

Looking at the way the metal is torn, I'd say you've been turning the filter the wrong way ie. tightening it ?

That exhaust strap is totally fucked up (but not as much as ya filter)

Cold chisel ?.........are you guys fuckin' mental ????.......have you seen what he's managed to do so far

If the sealing face gets damaged, then it's end of game for that bike ie. sealing face is part of the RH crankcase

I could remove what's left of that filter in less than 10 seconds and it certainly wouldn't involve a chisel of any description
