:yt: but I can't see it for a good few years yet. I'm certain that EBR has been set up to work through possible future designs, but as has already been said, there's the small matter of a factory, tooling, suppliers, workforce etc, etc.
Having said that, I'd love to see what's in Eriks 'Skunkworks' 8-)

I like the belt.

Hate listening to the chain noise on other bikes.
Belts last about the same time and cost the same as chain/sprocket and never need serviced. OK, hard to change gearing but most people won't do that - not with these engines.

I love the belt too.
If a belt breaks, you buy a new one. If a chain breaks, you buy a new one and new crankcases ;) - and if you're very unlucky, you'll have a friend nearby to squeeze your Femural artery while the Paramedics arrive :( (St Johns '1st Aider' tried wrapping it in a compression pad :x

Polaris would be a good bet for financing and assisting Erik to re-launch the brand.
They started selling Victory motorcycles via their snowmobile showrooms.
They already have a dealer network across the States and Europe and have capacity to increase production or diversify.
Based in Minnesota, they are only 350 miles from Erik's original base, not a great distance if they needed to draw on some of the personnel from the old set up.

£7 million isn't a huge amount of money in a country where Warren Buffet and his mates are giving away their fortunes.
America always likes an underdog, maybe with his enthusiasm, Erik will get what he needs without having to prostitute himself like he did with HD.
Horex in Germany had no trouble finding upwards of 20 million Euros for their VR6 project without a single sale yet. Buell have already sold over 100,000 bikes and were increasing market share (and profitable) when the plug was pulled.

If you've got the vision, nothing is impossible. :yup:

Having tried chain, shaft & belt.

My preference is for belt.

I like belts - they don't go rusty! I did start investigations into a new set of pullies/sprockets what ever u call them that would take a generic belt - my dad used to design gears pullies for gear boxes and drive units. May pop upto his old place of work and make an equirey as to the actual cost...

Don't get me wrong I like belt drive's too; nice and quiet, maintenance free and they won't cut your leg off when they break. It's just the fact that belts and abrasive salt don't mix, if you ride your bike year round your belt will deteriorate, just my 2p, badda boom.

I've not noticed any detrimental effect of salt on my belt in 7 years of four season riding on my Buell.
I've had plenty of chains that looked like they were dragged up from the Titanic though, despite loads of money spent on chain lube, Scott Oilers etc.
