The Beginning of The End:
Ive got my lovely Black 1125r (2008 model registered March 20010) on e-bay. Loved it to bits but times move on and its got to go "know what I mean".

Realisation Dawns

The End of The Beginning:
Ive bought a lovely Black 1125r (2009 model registered April 2010). Could'nt resist and decided the bits upgraded for 2009 were worth having. :yup:

Anyways as I was removing the pesky noid and fitting a K&N filter.............. I thought whats all the probs with the stator thingy? ok I know its been discussed to death, but I am going to fit a little fan to cool the regulator and wondered if anyone has done that (somewhat tight in there but a bit of giggery-pockery moving wires about should do it).

I've got the message with the clutch (carrying some fluid in case).

Oh! n are extended warranties available to add on.

Cheers, :D
John

So this is yours then ?

Not mentioned that it's a 2008 model ...

IMO not sure that the 2009 models are any better than the 2008s' though.

Yep thats mine.

E-bay Item number: 220753454337

Know what you mean about people thinking the 2009 not being any better than the 2008, but it came along at the right price so I thought I might as well have the latest version with the upgrades (worts and all).

I know they are quirky, and I did think about going back to the Jap masses but I,ve never followed the crowd and I like different. Buells are head turners and when they are on song they are so Soooooooooo .................. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm....nice

I,ve been reading a lot about the stator so I am going to fit a little fan to cool the regulator as a precaution, and carry some clutch fluid in case.

I am also going to enquire about the extended warranties some owners talk about, again just to bolt the door as it were.

Like everyone else I am somewhat disappointed in Harley Davidsons response to some of the issues discussed on the site (especially finding permanent, realistic fixes to the stator and clutch problems). Thank goodness for Black Bear HD and the ingenuity of some of the owners out there.

I did e-mail Erik Buell racing just to see if they were interested in contributing to our little discussion board..............."Perhaps Erik himself could comment I asked" (let us all know he appreciates that we are still waving the flag as it were) .................. Errrrrrrrrrrr......no was the reply.

Take care,
John

You can pick up the Mosfet regs for a tenner on Ebay, how much are the the fans? Even a new R1 type reg can be bought for £50 - problem solved, and no extra hacking of wiring
As I said in the previous post, it will solve the problem rather than mask the enevitable heat issue :?
