I've got a wiring fault on my XBR. I'm quite certain that it's wiring because both my brake light and horn don't work which are on the same fuse. The brake light doesn't work from the front lever but does from the rear and the horn doesn't work at all. I've got the plastics off and can see no visible damage to the wiring and all fuses and connectors seem okay so what's going on? I can use a multimeter to check batteries and fuses but I'm not certain how I can fault find with it on the loom.

Front brake light switch is fucked........pull the connectors off the switch and touch them together, the brake light should illuminate

Well I can't touch the two connectors together because they're secured in a single plastic housing but on removing the switch and connector and jiggling a bit with the two together I've got the brake light working backwards and flashing on briefly so that looks like the cause but still no horn.

I've got the switch apart and it seems to be working fine. The connection is broken when the button is pressed. Where should I look now?

Wire the horn up to the battery to see if it works ?

Or use your multimeter to see if the horn is getting power when the button is pressed ?

Yes it's not steady but the reading is about 9 volts at the horn so what with the plastic in the way on the connectors that seems okay.

The horn is not broken. I tested it on a cordless drill battery so what's up?

It possibly wants far more than 9 volts to make it work ;)

It should make a fuzzing noise at low voltage.

Boethius, please, please, I implore you, please just stop right now :headbang:

This is just plain embarrassing, UKBEG is a www and I find it painful to think that people from around the entire globe can see such utter ineptitude displayed on this site :oooops:

Either put your whole tool kit in the nearest dustbin or save my sanity and stop posting re. this very sad debacle.

Thanks :)
