My 1125 has developed a bit of a throttle response/fueling issue. If I'm pootling along anywhere between 4k and 6k RPM (Doesn't matter which gear), and I gently roll the throttle on, nothing happens, I gently roll the throttle on a bit more and still nothing happens, a bit more and 'whoa boy' as it feels like full power has kicked in at the flick of a switch. The throttle does feel stiff/heavy.

Bikes done 2300 miles, first 2200 miles were fine.

Any ideas before i book the bike in to HD?

have you disconnected the noid? An early 1125R I rode had this issue but my 09 1125R did not suffer from this but I disconnected the noid for other reasons.

Stiff throttle..?

With the engine off, listen to the throttle bodies opening when you twist the throttle. I;d also check the routing of the throttle cables to make sure nothing has pinched them. Do this whilst moving the handlebars across their full range of movement left to right just in case there's something creating a problem in certain steering positions.

My throttle bodies open and shut with a very feint click and I can feel that they are almost at one with the twist grip if you know what I mean....

Just a thought..... Im no mechanic mind you :oooops:

You haven't changed the bar ends have you ? That could cause the throttle to stick - but probably not if it is happening as you describe. And you haven't adjusted the throttle cables have you because if you take up too much slack then that can cause the throttle to bind.

I agree with John about disconnecting the solenoid and giving that a try.

Wow that's spooky. Mine started doing the exact same thing after riding for about an hour on Sunday. Was just rolling along a high street very low revs and it wouldn't pick up for a good quarter of a turn. I thought the fuel warning light had failed and I was about to run out, but a bit more throttle and it was fine. Also tick-over's fine when it's shut. Mmmmm?

Which solenoid is it?

Mine did that from almost new. I disconnected the 'noid before I knew what it was for but after asking around I worked out that it didn't do much. Took off the operating cable and it was like a different bike.

Take off the airbox and filter + base and it's the big shiney thing bolted to the top of the R/H frame rail. Just take off the cable that connects to the throttle quadrants (it'll unscrew from the 'noid rod if you grip it with pliers) but leave it electrically connected if you don't want it throwing fault codes. Order a resistor from BB and you can remove the whole thing. Don't drop it on your foot, it weighs a bloody ton :lol:

You can also lock the throttles together, you'll see what I mean when you look at it, with a tie wrap but imho you'll gain very little doing this.

Cheers guys, I did wonder if it was the Noid, but a lot of the stuff I'd read previously only mentioned it happening in third gear (which didn't make any sense to me). It's booked into HD now anyway, so I'll chat to them about the disconnecting the Noid while I'm there. Then i just need to buy some ACF50 before the salt arrives.

Quite correct. The noid should only operate in 3rd at certain revs - unless it's faulty ;)

At which point they change the ECM which controls the Noid...

Bike's running better now, but I think I'll order a resister anyway.
